We deliver services that consistently exceed those of our peers. We accomplish this through innovation, constant process improvement, and an uncompromising commitment to hiring, retaining, and rewarding the best talent available.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, HR Business Partnerships is a business leader first and an HR professional second. This role is the trusted adviser to the leaders it serves across SIS, both the client-facing business units and the corporate functions, embedded in their decisions on workforce quality, retention, cost, and risk. The role leads the HR Business Partner team, the workplace investigations function, and the employee service center, and is accountable for making the partnership side of HR an asset business leaders ask for rather than a function they tolerate.

  • Leads workforce planning and organizational design (15%): partners with business leaders to plan headcount against contract demand, design team structures, and prepare the workforce for account growth, transitions, and losses.
  • Builds manager capability (15%): coaches managers to lead well, handle performance directly and humanely, and own the narrative behind their people data rather than outsourcing it to HR.
  • Governs employee relations risk (15%): owns escalation and quality standards for investigations, separations, and high-exposure matters across high-regulation states, engaging counsel and the Sr. Director of Human Resources early.
  • Turns people data into business decisions (5%): brings retention, employee relations, and service data to business reviews as evidence, and teaches the leaders they serve to use it.
Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervises the HR Business Partner team, the lead workplace investigator, and the employee service center team, including hiring, performance management, compensation recommendations, and separations within company policy.

  • 3 to 4 or more years directly managing and building teams, with a record of developing the people on them.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
