Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

We are at the intersection of award-winning entertainment and cutting-edge technology, powered by our culture and some of the most innovative and collaborative talent in the world. At the center of this is the Netflix Talent (People/HR) team, who are responsible for identifying, attracting, and developing Netflix's team of stunning colleagues.

About Talent Analytics:

Talent Analytics focuses on generating meaningful insights from people data that can help leaders inform decisions around our business, our workforce, and our Talent strategy, programs and practices. The team also focuses on maintaining the health and quality of our people data, also called data governance, as this is a critical dependency for generating insights. The team partners with leaders across Netflix and the Talent organization to understand the business context for key questions or challenges that the organization is seeking to address. While the team works most closely with our Global Business Practices (GBP) teams to influence and inform decisions at a program level, some projects bring the group into direct collaboration with business leaders and their HRBPs. The team leverages its diverse backgrounds and an interdisciplinary approach to define the solution best suited to address the question at hand, whether it’s designing data and insights products, developing measurement strategy for new programs or leveraging advanced analytical and statistical methods to deeply understand a topic.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Employee Listening to work alongside the Head of Talent Analytics and the Talent Analytics team to help shape and lead our strategy around employee listening, including surveys and qualitative research. This role will play a crucial role in strengthening our culture of feedback by creating listening mechanisms that effectively capture the employee voice and delivering those insights at scale to actively inform decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a scalable and agile employee listening strategy that supports our broader Talent Strategy and business objectives

  • Design, implement and analyze census, pulse, lifecycle surveys and other feedback mechanisms in alignment with the broader employee listening strategy

  • Architect a framework for decentralized listening in partnership with stakeholders across Talent, Technology and Legal/Privacy

  • Evolve survey and sentiment reporting in alignment with the broader Talent Analytics scaled insights strategy

  • Design an approach to scaling qualitative research: focus groups, interviews, etc.

  • Partner with the Talent Analytics Research team on deep dive projects and applications of sentiment data

  • Coordinate closely with teams across Talent to define sentiment measurement objectives (e.g., talent management, learning and development)

  • Build and lead a world-class employee listening team

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in employee listening, people analytics or other quantitative HR functions, including 4+ years of people management

  • Proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing large-scale employee listening programs in large, matrixed organizations

  • Demonstrable track record of stakeholder management, executive influence, and partnership

  • Demonstrated success translating insights into action, partnering with business leaders and researchers to drive change and measure impact

  • Deep, relevant technical experience in surveys and qualitative research: design methodology, psychometrics, construct/content validation, ethnography, etc.

  • Strong business acumen and a user-centric approach

  • Ease operating in a complex, cross-functional, geo-distributed organization

  • Experience designing listening strategies that are culturally sensitive and effective across global, diverse populations

  • Highly adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity and change

  • Exceptional communication across technical, non-technical teams, and levels of seniority

  • Experience with scaled survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics) and analytics/BI tools

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
