Position Overview
As Senior Manager / Director, Financial Reporting, you'll lead our external SEC reporting processes and serve as the go-to technical accounting expert for the accounting and finance teams. This role sits within the Accounting & Finance function at B. Riley Securities Holdings, Inc., reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role offers quarterly bonus eligibility and a competitive base salary commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q), ensuring financial statements comply with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Develop and manage the quarterly SEC reporting calendar, coordinating with external auditors, executives, legal, and B. Riley Financials’ accounting/finance teams.
  • Oversee the quarterly financial reporting package, including footnote preparation, MD&A drafting/updates, and tie-outs for earnings releases, financial tables, call scripts, and proxy statements.
  • Maintain a disclosure checklist to drive compliance with reporting requirements; research and assess new accounting pronouncements, leading their company-wide implementation.
  • Author technical accounting memos and position papers on complex topics, collaborating with management and external auditors to resolve issues during audits/reviews.
  • Continuously enhance financial reporting processes through streamlining, automation, and innovative solutions.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, such as equity-based compensation, lease accounting, and acquisitions.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4+ years in public accounting (Big Four manager-level preferred).
  • 3+ years in a public company, with hands-on experience drafting SEC filings (10-K/10-Q).
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and technical accounting expertise, including deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules, and technical research.
  • Financial services or securities brokerage experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting software and NetSuite ERP a plus.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across teams.
