About the role & team:
As Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting, you’ll be a foundational member of our controllership team. You’ll define the team's vision, establish robust processes, and serve as the first reviewer on reporting and technical accounting deliverables while championing our culture of ownership, collaboration, and data-driven integrity. As the company builds its reporting team, you’ll have a unique opportunity to build the team culture as well as shape the necessary processes from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and scale the financial reporting and technical accounting team.
- Manage review of financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Review technical memos on complex accounting areas (SBC, debt, leases, CapSW, etc).
- Own SOX and disclosure control frameworks, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally with CFO, FP&A, Legal, and Investor Relations.
- Manage external auditors and ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
- Provide strategic input on financial planning, performance analysis, and business decision-making through detailed financial analysis and insights.
- Stay informed of emerging changes in regulations, proactively advising senior management on potential impacts and required actions.
- Oversee the technical accounting function by providing guidance on complex accounting issues, new standards, and transaction structuring.
- Supervise, coach, and develop financial reporting and accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7–10+ years of experience in Big 4 or public company controllership.
- Proven leadership in SEC reporting and technical accounting.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (e.g. GAAP, IFRS).
- Strong analytical skills and expertise in interpreting and applying technical accounting standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to executive teams and other stakeholders.
Location:
This role is eligible for full-time remote work in one of our entities: CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, GA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TX, UT, and WA.
We are a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, and New York City.
Travel Expectations:
We offer several opportunities for in-person team gatherings, including but not limited to project meetings, regional meetups, and company-wide events. We expect our employees to attend these gatherings at least once per quarter. These gatherings provide essential opportunities for collaboration, communication, and team building.
Compensation:
Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on the candidate's location and experience.
The following are our base salary ranges for this role:
- SF Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, NYC, Seattle: $175,000 - $195,000
- All other California and Washington state locations, Austin, Boston, Denver, Portland: $161,000 - $179,400
- All other locations in our approved states: $150,500 - $167,700
