Summary/Objective:
The Senior Manager, Academy Studios plays a key role within the Academy Studios content pillar, leading the development, production, and optimization of high-quality digital video content under the direction of the Senior Director, Academy Studios.
This role is integral to executing the Academy’s broader content vision—bridging creative production, operational excellence, and strategic execution. The Senior Manager oversees multiple concurrent projects spanning institutional storytelling across the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the Oscars, including: Academy100 campaign content, Academy Museum, Academy Gold, Academy Collections, and more, ensuring every project aligns with the organization’s mission to celebrate, preserve, and advance the art and science of cinema.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned creative producer with deep expertise in video production, post-production, and YouTube best practices. They thrive in fast-paced environments, bring calm and clarity to complex projects, and collaborate seamlessly with internal departments, leadership, and external partners.
Essential Functions of the Job:
○ Oversee video production from concept through delivery—ensuring quality, timeliness, alignment with brand standards, and adherence to Academy Studios’ YouTube content strategy.
○ Develop and execute new digital formats for the Academy and Oscars YouTube channels, utilizing a deep understanding of YouTube best practices and audience growth strategies.
○Oversee in-house and external production teams, editors, and vendors to maintain high production value and creative consistency.
○ Lead pre-production planning, including scripting, logistics, and scheduling, and support on-site filming for Academy and Museum events.
○ Manage production budgets and vendor contracts under the direction of the Sr. Director, Academy Studios.
○ Develop and refine production workflows and documentation for consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
○ Contribute to weekly production meetings to track project milestones, surface blockers, and align stakeholders.
○ Maintain asset libraries, file management, and archiving systems to ensure accessibility and organization.
○ Support cross-functional initiatives that integrate content across marketing, social media, and communications efforts.

- Cross-Department Collaboration:

Required Competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree in Film, Communications, Media Production, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in digital video production, including significant experience optimizing YouTube channels.
- Strong technical expertise in pre-production, production, and post-production workflows, including camera operation, lighting, and sound.
- Deep understanding of YouTube SEO, metadata optimization, and channel growth strategies.
- Working proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop), YouTube Studio, and analytics dashboards (TubeBuddy, vidIQ, Google Analytics).
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative and composed under pressure, with experience interfacing with leadership, talent, and external partners.
- Excellent verbal and visual communication and storytelling abilities.
