Senior Level Designer (Contract)
Bluepoint Games is seeking a SENIOR LEVEL DESIGNER to join our team.
Work alongside Environment Artists, Vis Dev, Combat Design, etc. to design exciting level content from concept to final implementation. Applicants are expected to be able to confidently work both independently and collaborate with all stakeholders, while bringing their experience and perspectives to elevate the team and our processes as we strive to deliver our next great title.
Responsibilities
Propose level content via 2D maps, diagrams, and/or written documentation
Create and polish engaging 3D spaces that push gameplay mechanics
Establish and maintain systems and core metrics that will drive the content
Script and tune key aspects of the content, including events, interactions, encounters, puzzles, and collision
Collaborate with code and art teams to achieve synergy of form and function
Analyze emerging game design trends and apply new mechanics to current designs as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years of professional experience in level design, with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects)
Experience using and managing GUI-based logic-scripting tools
Proficiency in use of Maya and/or other industry-standard software
Solid understanding of how to design and build engaging environments that support the game’s vision
Strong communication skills and the ability to convey abstract concepts with other members of the team
Detail-oriented, thorough, and proactive can-do approach to challenges
The ideal candidate shall also have:
Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop skills are a plus
Solid understanding of game workflows and pipelines
Extensive knowledge of relevant products and various game design genres/trends
Desire to learn new techniques and technologies
Desire to mentor and share experience/knowledge with others
