Job Summary & Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on product compliance, including consumer protection, safety, labeling, and industry standards.
  • Oversee import and export compliance, ensuring adherence to U.S. and international trade laws, sanctions, and customs regulations.
  • Advise on tariff impacts and trade policy developments, collaborating with supply chain, logistics, and finance teams.
  • Lead compliance efforts in privacy and data protection laws (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), including drafting and reviewing policies, procedures, and contracts.
  • Monitor, assess, and advise on AI-related regulations and their impact on business operations, products, and services.
  • Develop and implement internal compliance policies, training programs, and risk management frameworks.
  • Partner with business leaders, product teams, and regulators to proactively manage compliance risks.
  • Support audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Manage outside counsel and collaborate with cross-border legal teams as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing (California preferred).
  • 5+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house counsel experience in compliance, trade, or regulatory law.
  • Strong knowledge of import/export laws, tariffs, product compliance standards, and privacy regulations.
  • Familiarity with AI and emerging technology regulations strongly preferred.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical skills, and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Experience working in e-commerce, technology, or global trade environment preferred.
