Employee Type: Contractor 

Duration: 1-3 Months 

Working Hours: 20-30 hours per week 

Location: Remote (must be available to ET time zone hours) 

NOTE: This is a contractor position with no benefits, requiring a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization's learning initiatives during the contract period. Must provide a portfolio or samples of work, specifically but not limited to, design, video, and animation, along with foundational Instructional Design work (applications without this requirement will not be considered). Applicants in process could be asked to prepare a practical demonstration during the interview.

Job Description: 

We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to join our team on a temporary contractor basis for a minimum of 6 months (contract can be extended). As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for creating engaging, effective, and innovative learning materials tailored to our organization's needs. Your primary focus will be designing and developing instructional content, including Virtually Led Training (VLT), eLearning Modules, Videos, multimedia presentations, infographics, animation, and other educational materials. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Program Managers to analyze learning needs, develop targeted instructional materials, and provide insight into the best learning solutions. 
  • Design and develop interactive, engaging, and learner-centered online courses and training modules including the following training modalities: VLT, ILT, Blended Learning, Experiential Learning, Microlearning, Video, Infographics (static and interactive) and Animation.  
  • Utilize instructional design principles and technologies to enhance learning experiences. 
  • Create visually appealing multimedia content, including videos, animations, and interactive simulations as well as learning assets such as participant guides, workbooks, facilitator guides, and job aids. Experience with gamification, role-playing, and social learning is a plus but not required. 
  • Conduct needs assessments and analyze existing content to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Develop assessments, quizzes, practice activities, and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs. 
  • Stay current with cutting-edge trends, methodologies, and technologies in the evolving landscape of learning and development and adult learning. 
  • Ensure all instructional materials are accessible, culturally responsive, and inclusive to cater to diverse learner needs and backgrounds. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and project teams to deliver high-quality learning solutions on time and within project scope. 

Requirements: 

  • 5+ Years of Work Experience, bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design/Education, or equivalent years of experience. Must provide a portfolio or samples of work (applications without this requirement will not be considered). 
  • Proven experience as an Instructional Designer, curriculum development, developing engaging online courses and multimedia content.  
  • This role demands adept and innovative design skills (modern, clean), ensuring the creation of compelling and immersive learning solutions that resonate with adult learners. 
  • Established proficiency in instructional design techniques, encompassing skills in storyboarding, needs assessment, analysis, development, design, implementation, and evaluation. 
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (Rise, Captivate), learning management systems (LMS), multimedia software, and Camtasia. 
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Outlook, Word, Excel) and WebEx. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams or any other virtual meeting platform. 
  • Access to design software licensing including but not limited to: Storyline, Rise, video development software, and animation software.
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to assess training needs and create effective instructional materials such as participant workbooks, facilitator guides, job aids, infographics, interactive PDFs, etc... 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with SMEs and project teams. 
  • Detail-oriented, creative thinker, and problem solver. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, work remotely, and within project deadlines. 
  • Familiarity with diverse learning styles and accessibility standards in instructional design. 
  • Prior experience with project-based work and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
