About us

Onebrief is a revolutionary platform for military staff workflows and operational planning. The software is designed to enable smarter, real-time decisions. With unparalleled collaboration features, AI-enhanced tools, and customizable workflows, Onebrief makes staffs superhuman. The expanding roster of customers includes COCOMs and Service Components worldwide.

Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief’s workforce of 120+ spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software giants. Onebrief’s growth is exemplary, having raised $53M+ and counting from leading venture investors.

What You Will Achieve

As Onebrief’s Head of Product Design, you’ll report to our VP of Product, Devesh, and play a critical role in shaping the future of how military staffs plan, collaborate, and make decisions. Our platform is live and trusted, now we’re scaling it to be even clearer, faster, and more powerful.

You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to define high-impact work — from new features to system-level improvements — and help the team focus on solving the right problems in the right way. Designers at Onebrief get involved early and often, contributing across UX, UI, and research to make complex workflows feel simple and intuitive.

As a player-coach, you’ll grow the team’s craft and confidence while staying close to the work yourself. You’ll help shape not just what we build, but how we build it; refining process, mentoring ICs, and coaching cross-functional peers on how to bring valuable insight to the table.

You’ll collaborate directly with military SMEs, planning advisors, and customers to stay anchored in real-world problems — and ensure our design work drives real impact.

About You

"Any darn fool can make something complex; it takes a genius to make something simple." — Albert Einstein

You’re energized by designing tools that bring clarity to complex, high-stakes environments. Simplicity, structure, and thoughtful reduction come naturally — your work helps users focus, not fight the interface.

While your thinking is systems-level, you know how to carve out small, high-leverage slices of work that create meaningful progress. You’re strategic when it counts, tactical when needed, and equipped to help teams build fast and build right.

You stay grounded and focused in ambiguous situations. In async teams, you communicate with clarity, whether it be in writing, sketches, or reviews. And when collaboration’s needed, you know how to bring others in without slowing things down.

Qualifications
  • Experience with complex, user-driven products: often found in B2B SaaS, but could come from any environment where clarity and utility matter most.

  • End-to-end product thinking: shipped products from 0→1 and improved them through thoughtful iteration.

  • Strong UX instincts: clarity, flow, and user outcomes matter more to you than surface polish alone.

  • High-stakes design experience: built tools that users rely on for operational results, not just daily tasks.

  • Strategic execution: scoped complex work into focused, shippable slices that move the product forward.

  • Cross-functional leadership: worked tightly with Product and Engineering to align early and ship fast.

  • High ownership mindset: proactive in surfacing, shaping, and driving design initiatives to completion.

  • Culture and craft leader: known for setting a high bar and helping others rise to it.

  • Async-native communicator: clear and structured in writing, sketches, and cross-functional reviews.

Compensation Range: $225K - $300K

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
