We seek to deeply understand our product’s audience and drive strategy to create value for players and for Riot. We help concept, build, and influence projects at all stages of production.

Riftbound is our new physical trading card game (TCG) where you battle to control locations with famous League champions. As a Senior Game Product Manager on Riftbound, you'll report directly to the Product Design Director and be front and center in defining the direction of our game. You will work with design and insights to maintain and improve the health of the game through the primary content lens: cards! Your analysis, player insight, and creativity will help craft in-game experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work with every tool at hand to iterate our live environment to delight millions of players around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Use data and sensemaking to identify opportunities to improve the health of the game through product design
  • Articulate and consider a scope and depth of possible solutions, including possible effects, and collaboratively reach the best solution
  • Discover solutions conceptually through prototyping and collaboration
  • Improve existing design frameworks, our approaches to design, and create new ones
  • Collaborate with other designers, insights, product, narrative and art to deliver the best holistic solutions
  • Openly share work and seek feedback from other developers, combining co-worker and player feedback to calibrate design direction
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a professional game product manager
  • Broad product design experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience serving audience needs on live games
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of CCGs and their features
  • Experience working with or playing PvP strategy games
  • Experience developing a competitive or multiplayer game
  • Experience managing direct reports or mentoring

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise and a collaborative spirit that prioritizes the delight of players. We will look at your past studies and experience, but for this role, we also look for dedicated people with a personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this is the role for you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
