The Senior Full Stack Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable services and APIs, leading backend architecture discussions and collaborating with teams to enhance advertising offerings.

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer that will join the Spotify Advertising team. As a member of our platform team, you will utilize your robust frontend and full-stack expertise to enhance our advertising offerings. Your work will involve supporting various squads and systems, including Ads Manager and internal tooling products, and maintaining a local design system powered by Encore.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable services and APIs, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
- Lead backend architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and guide large-scale system improvements.
- Resolve complex issues across distributed systems and drive adoption of high-quality backend practices.
- Partner with teams to design APIs and integrations that reduce reliance on custom one-offs.
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to implement features on top of backend services.
- Provide flexible, well-documented APIs that enable consistent and user-friendly frontend experiences.
- Contribute to frontend codebases when needed, supporting design system adoption and alignment.
Who You Are
- Skilled in Java, GraphQL, and backend system design.
- Strong grasp of design patterns, data structures, and distributed architecture.
- Experienced in leading backend projects and multi-team refactors.
- Focused on code quality, maintainability, and pragmatic backend-first solutions.
- Familiar with React, Typescript, HTML, CSS, with interest in performance optimization.
- Comfortable supporting frontend teams through tooling, APIs, and occasional contributions.
- Care about delivering user-focused experiences through backend–frontend collaboration.
Where You'll Be
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North American region as long as we have a work location.
- This team operates within the PST and EST time zone for collaboration. We often need to communicate with our other team members on Australian Eastern Standard time.
The United States base range for this position is $160,091- $228,702 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
