Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About the team

Roku's Content FP&A team is the financial engine behind The Roku Channel (TRC) — Roku's ad-supported streaming service and one of the largest and fastest-growing AVOD businesses in the U.S. We sit at the intersection of content, technology, and finance, partnering with Engineering, Platform Operations, Content Strategy, and Content Acquisition to drive decisions on how Roku invests in, operates, and grows TRC. The team supports forecasting and budgeting, monthly close, business case development, and KPI reporting across TRC's content and infrastructure cost lines.

 About the role

Roku's FP&A team is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to own the financial model for TRC's cloud infrastructure costs (OVP COGS), serve as the FP&A point person for TRC's FAST and International businesses, and execute monthly close support across a broad set of content cost lines. You'll be a key finance partner for Platform Operations and Engineering on OVP cost questions — building the models, tracking performance, and delivering the analysis that informs infrastructure decisions affecting tens of millions in annual spend. This role will evolve as AI transforms financial analysis. We want someone who's excited about that — not just comfortable with new tools, but eager to rethink how FP&A work gets done. If you're the kind of person who automates the repetitive stuff so you can spend more time on the work that actually matters, you'll thrive here.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $125,000 and 135,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you'll be doing
  • Own the OVP cost model covering TRC's cloud infrastructure, tracking monthly efficiency ratios and presenting findings to Engineering and Operations leadership
  • Monitor vendor-level spend via vendor dashboards; allocate costs across business units and support contract renewals and rate negotiations, quantifying financial impact
  • Build and maintain the TRC FAST streaming hours forecast incorporating channel launch assumptions, seasonal demand, and content investment uplift
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly variance analyses across OVP COGS and content cost lines — explain what happened, why it matters, and what to do about it
  • Execute all monthly close deliverables including cost allocations, accruals, and product segment reclasses
  • Serve as FP&A point person for TRC's International business — KPI review, P&L analysis, and forecast support
  • Build business cases and ROI analyses to support major operational and infrastructure decisions, with exposure to Director and VP-level stakeholders
  • Partner with Content Strategy, Content Acquisition, and Platform Operations to provide financial perspective that informs programming and infrastructure decisions
  • Identify ways to improve the speed, accuracy, and usefulness of financial reporting — including leveraging AI and automation tools to streamline workflows
 We're excited if you have
  • 3+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related analytical role
  • Strong financial modeling skills — fluent in Excel and comfortable building models from scratch and maintaining them over time
  • Experience with variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting in a business with recurring close cycles
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to translate complex cost dynamics into business insights for non-finance audiences including Engineering and Operations partners
  • Intellectual curiosity — you dig into the "why" behind the numbers, not just the "what"
  • Bias for action and ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables under tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
  • Genuine interest in how AI and automation are changing knowledge work — you don't need to be an expert, but you should be experimenting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

The Roku Culture

We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
