This role will support the Debt, Equity, and Structured Finance Team in Newmark’s Los Angeles office in Century City. The ideal candidate will be a high performing individual that has prior commercial real estate experience and brings a strong background in automation and artificial intelligence integration.
Candidates should be capable of integrating AI-driven tools and automation strategies to enhance analytical capabilities, improve workflow efficiency, and support data-driven decision making, while providing financial analyses, analytical decision support services, and technical expertise for a broad array of financial and operational projects and initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Capital Markets Execution
Support the placement of senior, bridge, construction, mezzanine, and permanent debt as well as preferred and joint-venture equity.
Prepare institutional-quality loan request packages, investment summaries, and lender/equity investor outreach materials.
Coordinate term sheet comparisons, structure optimization, and capital stack recommendations.
Manage transaction workstreams through closing, including diligence checklists, third-party reports, data rooms, and closing deliverables.
Underwriting & Financial Modeling
Build and maintain sophisticated cash flow, debt sizing, and equity waterfall models across multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and hospitality assets.
Underwrite and size loans using DSCR, debt yield, LTV/LTC, IO/amortization profiles, covenants, and exit tests; perform scenario/sensitivity and break-even analyses.
Synthesize rent rolls, operating statements, Argus exports, leases, and market data into defensible underwriting assumptions.
Market Intelligence & Business Development
Track capital markets activity, lender and equity sentiment, and pricing trends; maintain up-to-date term databases.
Support pitch development, proposals, and client strategy sessions with data-driven insights and comparable financing analyses.
Collaborate with research, valuation, and brokerage teams to align assumptions and messaging.
AI, Automation & Data Enablement
Integrate AI-driven tools to accelerate business development, comping, underwriting QA, document parsing, and market intel aggregation.
Automate pipeline tracking, lender/investor coverage mapping, and workflow handoffs with CRM and BI integrations.
Develop repeatable templates, model standards, and data validation routines to improve accuracy and cycle time.
Governance & Reporting
Standardize reporting on pipeline, fees, hit rates, and closing timelines; identify bottlenecks and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, confidentiality standards, and third-party data usage requirements.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Business Administration, Real Estate Development, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
~2+ years of experience in commercial real estate, private equity, or investment banking with emphasis on financial modeling and the application of AI technologies.
Expertise in AI-enabled analytics, data processing, and workflow automation, with a track record of translating tools into scalable, efficient solutions.
Advanced proficiency in Argus Enterprise and Excel; Excel VBA experience is a plus.
Strong command of core financial concepts, including IRR, NPV, and cash-on-cash returns.
Proficiency in PowerPoint and producing client-ready presentation materials.
Exceptional writing and communication skills with the ability to convey complex analyses clearly.
Proven research skills and familiarity with platforms such as CoStar, LoopNet, Real Estate Capital Analytics, and other industry data sources.
Solid understanding of capital markets concepts, products, and terminology.

Salary Range:
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package (including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching), this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
