Lead FP&A activities including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, scenario planning, and financial modeling. Partner with executives, technical teams, and functional leaders on board reporting, investor materials, program costs, capital expenditures, resource planning, and strategic decisions. Improve FP&A systems, reporting automation, multi-year planning, and profitability tracking in a hardware-focused defense aviation environment.
Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world today. By prioritizing relentless hardware iteration, we deliver high-speed systems at the pace of the modern battlefield. We work with the Department of War to provide the high-speed capabilities our nation and its allies need to maintain a durable, asymmetric advantage.
We are seeking a highly motivated Finance Manager to join our growing team. This individual will be a key business partner across the business — driving clarity through visibility of the budget and performance against budget. The ideal candidate has a strong FP&A foundation, thrives in a fast-paced hardware environment, enjoys working across teams, shaping processes and delivering insights.
Responsibilities:
- FP&A Leadership: Partnering closely with the CFO and executive leadership team, serve as the focal point for the annual, quarterly and monthly forecasting and variance communication process across the company translating financial data into actionable information
- Support the CFO and executive team with Board reporting, investor materials and financial analysis for major strategic decisions
- Hardware-First Business Modeling: Partner with technical teams to model program costs, NRE, and capital expenditures
- Business Partnering: Serve as a strategic finance partner to the functional teams - enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Scenario Planning: Collaborate with management to gather inputs and maintain dynamic models to reflect various options in the business model
- Financial Systems & Process: Help mature internal FP&A processes and systems to support multi-year planning, reporting automation, and program profitability tracking.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure our near-term resourcing is aligned and sufficient to support our long-term strategic plan.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles; experience in defense, aerospace, or hardware-intensive companies is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of hardware R&D lifecycles, new product introduction, and manufacturing concepts.
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and building scalable financial models.
- Proven ability to partner cross-functionally
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with tools like Adaptive Insights and Netsuite or similar is a plus.
The salary range listed for this role is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including role scope and responsibilities, relevant experience, education and training, key skills, market data, and business needs.
At Hermeus, compensation is only one part of our total rewards package. We offer competitive pay, equity, and a range of benefits designed to support our team.
