Your judgment and initiative are rooted in highly visible professional experiences that you’ve learned from.  You have a high level of discretion, professionalism, and self-reflection.

You’ve built a career assisting others and know the level of attention this role demands.  You always think two steps ahead and have mastered the ability to stay on top of rapidly changing priorities and deliverables.  You are a master at creating backup plans and alternative options when unforeseen circumstances arise.  You’re highly resourceful, composed, and empathetic, adept at building and nurturing professional relationships.  You create and prepare documents for meetings, make travel arrangements, lead ad hoc projects, and plan large-scale events.

“I am the person Capital Group is looking for.”

  • You’ve directly supported top-level executives (C-Suite) and are well-versed in the demands and nuances of managing an executive’s calendar, including complex travel arrangements.  In partnership with the Executive Office, you make recommendations on which meetings to prioritize and how best to align travel to support the executive’s most important objectives.  You develop alternative plans and execute them as needed, when appropriate.

  • You have experience creating agendas, detailed documents and excel files in advance of executive meetings.

  • You possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and can communicate effectively across stakeholders at all levels, and from all backgrounds (internally and externally).

  • You build appropriate relationships with assistants who support C-Suite leadership at client firms, government agencies, and other industry organizations with whom the CEO interacts.

  • You are confident and credible, readily building trust within the executive office team and with stakeholders, both internally and externally.  You possess a high-level of emotional intelligence and can navigate sensitive situations within the Executive Office and across Capital Group with ease.

  • You possess impeccable judgement and maintain a high-level of integrity and discretion.  You are patient and flexible, and able to adapt your style according to the needs of your manager and key stakeholders.  You decide how best to respond to key partners and clients based on the nuances of particular situations.

  • You are proactive and solutions-oriented, and your sense of urgency is consistent and dependable.  You are calm under pressure, staying composed and professional in high-stress/high-volume situations.

  • You are innovative and look for opportunities to optimize processes to drive greater efficiency and smooth operations.

  • You are adept at managing complex projects and initiatives, possess an analytical mindset and can comfortably navigate ambiguous situations.

  • You can manage multiple tasks with a range of priorities effectively in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.  You possess strong organizational skills.  You take a collaborative, considerate, and thoughtful approach to everything you do.

  • You are able to synthesize large volumes of information into clear, concise insights that help the CEO and Executive Office make informed decisions.

  • You are tech savvy – an Outlook and Microsoft suite expert – and regularly fine-tune your craft and are especially focused on continuous improvement.  You also know Salesforce.

  • You may have mentored, coached, or directly managed other assistants throughout your career.

  • You have helped manage corporate events (i.e. lunches, dinners) for C-Suite guests, advising on venue choices and timing of meals/events to ensure a smooth, positive experience for all.

  • As a representative of the CEO and the firm, you showcase strong executive presence and professionalism (demonstrated by acute attention to detail, accessibility, high EQ, etc.) both in written communication and when greeting or interacting with clients (i.e. in Capital Group offices or at corporate events).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
