About Semgrep

Our mission is to make world-class software security available to everyone. This means building program analysis tools that are open source, easy to use, powerful, and fast. It also means building a team with security expertise and a passion for great developer experiences. Most of all, it means working with honesty and respect in a diverse community of dreamers and builders. We’ve redefined static analysis tooling by committing to all of these, and turned our project, Semgrep, into an essential safeguard for code at Snowflake, Dropbox, and more.

About the role

As the Global Corporate Events Manager, you’ll play a key role on the Semgrep marketing team, leading the execution of our global event strategy across major conferences, regional trade shows, customer events, and virtual experiences. We’re looking for a strategic, self-driven professional who can build and scale both in-person and virtual programs for the security community — from practitioners to executives. You’ll also identify and develop thought leadership opportunities that strengthen our presence in security, developer advocacy, and AI. Experience creating events for technical audiences is essential, as their expectations differ from general attendees. You’ll collaborate closely with Field and Security Advocacy teams to propose events and speaking opportunities that align with their goals. We’re a fast-moving, high-performing team that values creativity, precision, and a positive attitude.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the strategy and execution of in-person and virtual events (1st party, 3rd party, partner, and large conferences) focusing on outcomes that drive business impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and teams to understand the business environment, ICP, brand and messaging for each event.
  • Manage execution of all events and their demand generation, including pre- and post-event communications, registration processes, and attendee management.
  • Partner with Sales, SE, PMM, and other stakeholders to promote events and webinars.
  • Provide consistent and clear communication of events programs to all stakeholders, including preparing and maintaining internal and external event planning documents, checklists, on-site schedules, timelines, recommendations,  and budget.
  • Lead evaluating ROI for all events; negotiate and execute contracts for both large and small scale events, collaborate with promotional & print vendors, and keep up with industry best practices to find creative new venues and creative solutions.
You are ideal for this role if you have
  • 8+ years of B2B tech event marketing, while also demonstrating operational and logistical expertise in a marketing/corporate events role, both for onsite, virtual and hybrid formats.
  • Budget Management skills to forecast, manage, and summarize event spend with internal teams and vendors; analytical skills to measure event ROI
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work independently, problem solve, improvise and function as part of a team that must perform under pressure
  • Experience using Salesforce, Marketo, and digital event platforms strongly preferred
  • You are excited at the prospect of getting to meet our customers and prospects in-person and are energized by the idea of traveling for work (up to 30% of your time)
  • Familiarity with developer products or open-source sales is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Webinar/ virtual events platforms, such as Zoom, ON24, Hopin, LinkedIn Live a plus

Our compensation package includes equity and benefits in addition to salary.

What we offer

Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles.

We also invest in our employees’ well-being and long term success with comprehensive health plans, generous vacation time, 401k, learning stipends, and more. Our benefits are for everyone, so that you’re taken care of, and we work with individuals to make sure they have what they need, whether that’s quiet work space, adjusted hours, or something else.

Who we are

We have people from France and the Philippines, physics and philosophy, formal methods research and full fledged corporations. We’re new parents and new grads, aspiring authors and aspiring Americans, dog lovers and dogfooders. We get together often to bike, bake, and meet up in parks. In our interactions, we believe respect and honesty go hand in hand, and prioritize both.

Semgrep is an equal-opportunity employer seeking a diverse range of backgrounds. We value who you are — including your cultural heritage, your socioeconomic status, your age, your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, your disabilities. We value what’s vitally important to you — your family, your religion, your politics. We value what you love in this world — your music, your weekend pursuits. We believe in welcoming varied professional backgrounds, educations, and interests. If you’re exceptional in your role, believe in Semgrep’s mission, and treat Semgrep’s values as your own, you belong here.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
