As a Senior Engineer, you'll improve Code Builder and develop data-driven Blazor UIs, while managing complex domain models and APIs effectively.
At WISEcode, we're a well-funded, dynamic startup. WISEcode makes personalized nutrition a reality based on the facts – what truly is in our food — and marries this data with your preferences. Powered by AI and the world’s best food and nutrition database, WISEcode embraces the fact that we are all different, have different dietary needs, objectives, and preferences, and should not be at the mercy of market spin or “expert” opinion. Every one of us should have the information we need to make the best decisions for ourselves.
The Opportunity
We are hiring Senior ASP. NET Engineers to work on Code Builder, one of WISEcode’s most strategic and technically interesting products.
Code Builder is a production-grade platform that allows complex nutrition logic — rules, formulas, thresholds, transformations, and AI-assisted interpretation — to be assembled, executed, and evolved across hundreds of thousands of real foods. It sits at the intersection of:
• Large-scale, proprietary nutrition data
• Deterministic computation and scoring pipelines
• AI-assisted data acquisition and interpretation
• Rich, stateful, data-intensive user interfaces built in ASP.NET Blazor.
This is not a greenfield demo and not a thin UI over APIs. It is a serious system, already in active use, with real architectural depth and room to grow. We are looking for senior engineers who enjoy stepping into sophisticated systems, understanding how they work, and making them better.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor to Code Builder and adjacent platform components, with a strong focus on ASP.NET and Blazor.
You will work in a mature, evolving codebase where:
• Architectural patterns already exist
• Data models are deep and nuanced
• Correctness matters
• Performance matters
• Changes must be thoughtful, not reckless
Senior Engineers at WISEcode are expected to get productive quickly, navigate complexity confidently, and deliver high-quality features without needing constant direction.
You will collaborate closely with Principal Engineers who define system direction, while owning meaningful pieces of execution yourself.
What You’ll Work On
• Building and evolving rich, data-driven Blazor UIs that power Code Builder’s workflows
• Implementing features that combine deterministic nutrition logic with AI-assisted insights
• Working with complex domain models representing foods, ingredients, nutrients, processing, and health signals
• Extending ASP.NET APIs and services that execute and orchestrate nutrition computations at scale
• Integrating AI outputs responsibly into user-facing and internal workflows
• Navigating and improving a large, long-lived production codebase
• Debugging and optimizing behavior across UI, application logic, and database boundaries
This is a role for engineers who enjoy thinking through real-world complexity, not abstract toy problems.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first few months, you are:
• Comfortable navigating a large, sophisticated codebase
• Shipping production features independently
• Confidently working in Blazor without friction
• Making sound decisions about when to refactor vs. extend existing systems
• Contributing to a shared understanding of how Code Builder works and how it should evolve
Required Qualifications
• 6–10+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong, hands-on experience with ASP.NET and modern C#
• Production experience with ASP.NET Blazor (Server or WebAssembly)Experience working in large, long-lived codebases
• Solid understanding of application architecture and layered systems
• Experience with relational databases, ideally Postgres
• Familiarity with Entity Framework Core or similar ORMs
• Comfort reasoning across UI, API, and database layers
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior technical peers
• Pragmatic engineering judgment — you value correctness, clarity, and maintainability
Nice to Have
• Experience working with complex domain models or rule-based systems
• Exposure to AI/ML-powered features or data pipelines
• Experience with performance tuning or profiling in ASP.NET / Blazor
• Background in data-intensive or analytics-heavy products
• Enterprise authentication and authorization systems
• Microsoft Semantic Kernel, MCP Server SDK, Agent Framework
Why This Is a Great Place for a Senior Engineer
• Work on a mission-critical product built in ASP.NET Blazor, not a side UI
• Solve real problems at the intersection of AI, data, and deterministic systems
• Learn how large-scale, high-stakes computation platforms are designed and evolved
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers who care deeply about architecture and clarity
• Build systems that help make nutrition — and health — more transparent and understandable
• Competitive compensation, benefits, and clear paths for growth

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene
Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
- Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
- Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
