Job Description

Your Career

As a Senior Director of Product Management, Threat Intelligence, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Unit 42—Palo Alto Networks’ world-class threat intelligence and security services team.

In this role, you will work side by side with the Unit 42 Threat Intel leadership team to help define and execute a product strategy for how Unit 42 intelligence powers both our product platform and the services we deliver directly to customers. You’ll drive initiatives that bring actionable insights from real-world investigations into our products, while also shaping the roadmap for Unit 42-led offerings that position us as the trusted partner for global security teams.

This role calls for a strategic leader with strong domain expertise in the evolving threat landscape and a proven ability to collaborate across research, engineering, and go-to-market teams.

Your Impact

You will work closely with other leaders and experts across Unit 42 to help define and drive the product vision for how Unit 42 threat intelligence—sourced from global research teams, frontline incident response to advanced threats and cybercrime, partnerships with government and industry, and Palo Alto Networks’ proprietary telemetry—delivers value across both our security platform and customer-facing services.

Your role is critical in aligning intelligence-driven insights with product and service strategy: working cross-functionally to ensure that adversary TTPs, threat actor trends, and emerging attack patterns directly inform the capabilities we bring to market. You’ll partner closely with product management, threat researchers, and field teams to shape offerings that empower customers—whether through integrated product features or through Unit 42-delivered services—to stay ahead of evolving threats and strengthen their security operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define and drive product vision, strategy, and roadmap for leveraging Unit 42 threat intelligence across both Palo Alto Networks' product portfolio and Unit 42-delivered customer services.
  • Help build and scale Unit 42-delivered threat services such as dark web monitoring, ask-an-analyst, malware analysis, and other high-value offerings—available as part of the Unit 42 retainer model.
  • Partner closely with Unit 42 threat researchers, consultants, and malware analysts to identify emerging threats, adversary tactics, and operational pain points that can be translated into product and service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product management teams across Cortex, NGFW, Prisma, and other business units to ensure threat intelligence is effectively integrated into product workflows, detection content, and automation.
  • Work directly with engineering teams to prioritize product requirements based on threat research needs, including access to global telemetry and scalable search capabilities that accelerate analyst workflows.
  • Represent Unit 42 threat intelligence in external analyst reports and product evaluations, both for dedicated threat intelligence coverage and as a strategic component of the broader Palo Alto Networks platform.
  • Stay informed on the evolving threat landscape, customer needs, competitive trends, and industry best practices in threat intelligence and security services.
  • Help position Unit 42 as a market leader in threat intelligence products and services, driving strategic differentiation for Palo Alto Networks.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Experience in one or more areas of threat intelligence, such as threat analysis, research, or operational intelligence sharing, with the ability to apply those insights to product or service development.
  • Familiarity with adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and the ability to translate security insights into product features, detection logic, or service offerings.
  • Proven track record in product management, ideally within the cybersecurity space, with a strong grasp of the product lifecycle—from strategy and roadmap development to execution and delivery.
  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally across engineering, research, go-to-market, and services teams to deliver on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience working with or alongside security consulting or incident response teams is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and align priorities across diverse technical and business teams.

Additional Information

The Team

Unit 42 brings together our world-renowned threat researchers with an elite team of security consultants to create an intelligence-driven, response ready organization. The Unit 42 Threat Intelligence team provides threat research that enables security teams to understand adversary intent and attribution, while enhancing protections offered by our products and services to stop advanced attacks. As threats escalate, Unit 42 is available to advise customers on the latest risks, assess their readiness, and help them recover when the worst occurs.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
