We're hiring a Senior Director, Global Programming & Curation to lead Crunchyroll's global content strategy. Reporting to the SVP, Growth and Planning, you'll connect creative vision with data-driven decisions, turning our content investments into subscriber growth, deeper engagement, and lasting fan value across markets.
As the global owner of programming and curation, you'll define how content is surfaced and experienced across the platform. You'll set strategy, build operating models, and lead a high-impact global team, working closely with Product, Marketing, Content, and regional leaders to deliver consistent, high-quality fan experiences worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Set the global programming and curation vision and roadmap, aligned to growth and fan experience
- Own KPIs across acquisition, engagement, retention, churn, and win-back
- Lead and scale a global team of programming and curation leaders
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Data, Content, and regional GMs to drive strategy and execution
- Build global frameworks for sampling, curation, and catalog optimization with room for local nuance
- Run the global programming calendar across simulcasts, catalog launches, and tentpole moments
- Oversee simulcast pipeline planning with Japan schedules, licensing, and localization in mind
- Define editorial standards across all platform surfaces (home, collections, recommendations, campaigns)
- Shape personalization and recommendation strategy with Product and Engineering
- Regularly present strategy, performance, and insights to executive leadership and senior cross-functional forums
- Track emerging anime and fandom trends to guide content and catalog decisions
- Support market launches with region-specific programming and localization plans
We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.
About YouWe get excited about candidates, like you, because...
- 15+ years in streaming, DTC, or digital media across programming, curation, product, or content strategy, including 8+ years leading global, multi-layered teams and senior leaders
- Executive ownership of programming, discovery, or content-adjacent strategy with measurable subscriber impact
- Experience operating in fast-scaling, globally distributed organizations
- Deep expertise in platform programming and content surfacing across home, collections, campaigns, and discovery surfaces
- Strong analytical fluency; uses data and experimentation to guide strategy and prioritization
- Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data on personalization and recommendation systems
- Familiarity with global catalog, simulcast, or windowing complexity in streaming environments
- Deep knowledge of the Japanese anime/manga ecosystem, licensing models, and production realities; Japanese a plus
- Strong editorial instincts and fan empathy; translates fandom insight into scalable platform strategy
- Experience defining or upholding metadata, taxonomy, or editorial quality standards at scale
- Bachelor's or Master's in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Media, or related field (or equivalent experience)
