Role Type: This is a full-time position

About the Team

The Editorial team is part of College Board’s Assessment Design and Development (AD&D) department. We are a collaborative team committed to producing SAT Suite test questions and related publications that are error-free, consistent in style, and aligned to established editorial standards. We also edit materials and ensure quality control for other College Board programs, such as AP and ACCUPLACER. We work closely with Math and Reading and Writing subject matter experts within AD&D and other teams across College Board to publish tests and related materials in a variety of formats, both digital and print. As a team, we are in a period of intentional growth and evolution. We are actively refining our processes, strengthening cross-functional partnerships, and identifying new ways to improve how we work. We value editorial expertise, thoughtful collaboration, and continuous learning and improvement to ensure that we can continue producing work of the highest quality.

You will set and uphold the team’s strategic direction, priorities, standards, and operating procedures, ensuring editorial excellence, efficiency, and alignment to organizational goals. While you will engage in editing selectively to remain connected to the team’s core work, your primary focus will be developing talent through coaching, mentoring, and performance management; strengthening team capability; and driving long-term planning and major cross-divisional initiatives. In close partnership with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, you will champion editorial standards, coordinate strategy across teams, resolve dependencies, and ensure the team’s work delivers meaningful impact for students and other stakeholders.

  • Develop, coach, mentor, and manage a talented team of editors and graphic designers through regular feedback, performance management, goal setting, and career development planning

  • Monitor team performance using data and feedback, identifying opportunities to improve processes, quality control, and operational effectiveness

  • Manage the team’s workload calendar, project timelines, and inter-departmental coordination efforts, effectively managing competing priorities and ensuring high-quality, timely editorial results

  • Promote a collaborative, constructive, mission-focused work environment and high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and student-centered impact

  • Allocate resources effectively across programs and initiatives, balancing workload, risk, and strategic priorities

  • Participate in professional growth opportunities and present relevant information to the editorial team and other stakeholders

  • Grow the team through ongoing development, creating stretch opportunities, and building a talent bench

Lead long-term planning and major cross-divisional initiatives while representing and championing the team across the organization [40%]

  • Design and lead strategic initiatives, evidence-based experimentation, special projects, and long-term planning efforts that advance editorial quality, innovation, and operational excellence

  • Own outcomes for major team and cross-divisional projects, including scope, resourcing, timelines, and alignment to organizational goals

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
