Overview
The Cloud AI Platform Commercial Solution Area (CSA) team helps customers accelerate their Cloud & AI Platform transformation by connecting customer priorities with Microsoft solutions and services. As customer demand for Azure continues to evolve, effectively managing capacity requires close coordination across customer needs, regional priorities, and available supply.

We are looking for a Senior Director, Business Program Management – Non-AI Capacity Leader to lead the end-to-end Non-AI capacity business and serve as a central representative for Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) Non-AI Capacity. In this role, you will connect customer demand with Azure supply while driving strategic capacity decisions for the business. You will oversee priorities across Non-AI capacity management, including service availability, growth shaping and capacity allocation, multi-region strategy, and future capacity reservations (FCR). Working across Engineering, Finance, Field, and Sales, you will bring together customer, capacity, financial, and business considerations to establish priorities and translate complex and evolving needs into clear, actionable decisions.

You will provide operational leadership for how the organization manages capacity at scale, developing operating models and partnering with teams on automation and tooling that reduce reliance on manual escalation management. As a people manager, you will lead, coach, and develop a team of capacity program managers while driving planning, execution, measurement, and continuous improvement across this enterprise-wide program. You will provide clarity and direction in an environment where capacity needs and priorities can change quickly.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Our culture is centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day. In doing so, we create life-changing innovations that affect billions of lives around the world. You can help us achieve this mission.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of capacity program managers, establishing clear ownership and accountability across the team’s Non-AI capacity programs and priorities.
  • Lead the end-to-end Non-AI capacity escalation and triage process, leveraging the Unified Action Tracker (UAT) to support intake, prioritization, blocked-deal resolution, milestone tracking, and cross-functional coordination across Engineering, Finance, and Field. Drive improvements that strengthen and scale capacity management processes.
  • Partner with Engineering on capacity supply planning, service availability, and new-region readiness. Identify and prioritize capacity and service gaps based on customer and business impact while representing customer and field capacity needs within Engineering planning and escalation processes.
  • Shape worldwide growth-shaping and capacity allocation strategies, including demand shaping, regional capacity guidance, and priority setting, in partnership with capacity program leads and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead capacity prioritization and regional allocation governance, establishing frameworks and processes that support capacity readiness, allocation, and prioritization decisions.
  • Partner with Finance to connect regional demand and capacity decisions with revenue estimates, financial considerations, and business impact, informing prioritization and investment tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Field and Sales teams to translate customer demand, strategic account needs, and escalations into actionable capacity plans. Develop enablement resources, including playbooks, conversation guides, and communications, that equip teams to have accurate and timely capacity conversations with customers.
  • Translate evolving and ambiguous capacity needs into clear priorities and actionable direction for the team, maintaining alignment as business needs, constraints, and priorities change.
  • Represent MCAPS Non-AI Capacity across Engineering, Finance, Field, Sales, and business leadership, bringing together customer and field needs, capacity considerations, and business impact to inform strategic decisions and priorities. Provide outcome-oriented reporting that connects capacity decisions and program progress to business impact and key learnings.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
