SENIOR DENIM DESIGNER

Women’s Junior & Young Contemporary Denim
Location: Los Angeles, CA

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Denim Designer to lead the design and development of denim collections for the junior and young contemporary market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a designer who combines strong denim expertise, trend awareness, commercial instinct, and hands-on product development experience.

Job Description

 

  • Design and develop trend-right, commercially relevant denim collections from initial concept through production.

  • Research and interpret seasonal trends across the U.S. junior and young contemporary market, including silhouettes, washes, fabrications, trims, details, and emerging consumer trends.

  • Translate runway trends, street style, social media, competitive market research, and retailer trends into commercially successful denim products.

  • Develop key denim categories, including jeans, shorts, skirts, jackets, and other denim-driven fashion items.

  • Create detailed CADs, technical sketches, and tech packs, including construction details, specifications, wash references, trims, and design callouts.

  • Work closely with wash houses, mills, production teams, technical design, merchandising teams, and overseas vendors throughout the development process.

  • Review development, fit, wash, and pre-production samples and provide clear design direction and comments.

  • Maintain strong awareness of competitive brands, retailers, pricing, and evolving denim trends.

  • Manage multiple styles and seasonal developments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Partner with design and merchandising teams to identify new product opportunities and support business growth.

Qualifications

Must bilingual in Korean

  • 5+ years of professional fashion design experience, with significant hands-on denim design and development experience.

  • Strong knowledge of denim fabrics, washes, finishes, garment construction, fit, and specifications.

  • Strong understanding of the junior and young contemporary customer and the U.S. denim market.

  • Strong fashion sense with the ability to create commercial, trend-right, and sellable products.

  • Excellent CAD, sketching, and technical drawing skills.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Experience creating complete tech packs and communicating with domestic and overseas vendors.

  • Ability to evaluate and provide comments on fit, wash, construction, and production samples.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.

  • Bilingual English/Korean is a plus.
