About This Role:
The Senior Data Librarian plays a crucial role in managing and curating data resources within our organization. This position involves close collaboration with internal teams to identify and integrate existing data, collaborating with external vendors to source and evaluate external data, and ensuring the proper use of government and open data sets. The Data Librarian will also support labeling programs and assist data scientists in integrating data cleaning steps into the data management workflow.
- Works with data scientists to manage the creation, ongoing acquisition, and checkpointing of labeled data
- Assesses the relevance of labeled data over time as products evolve and make necessary adjustments
- Collaborates with data scientists to integrate data cleaning steps into the data management flow
- Supports the implementation and management of labeling programs
- Evaluates the trustworthiness of labelers, the quality of data before labeling, and the quantity of data needed
- Ensures that data transformation functions are preserved into production-ready code for repeatable and efficient data processing
- Determines responsibilities for creating and maintaining test suites around transformation functions through conversations with data engineering and data science teams
- Leads efforts in uncovering and shaping data, ensures data profiling, quality, and reduces redundancies.
- Works with external vendors to source data outside the organization
- Conducts profiling and quality checks on external data, ensuring legal compliance and data usability
- Collaborates with internal teams to clean and prepares external data that is available for data scientists
- Sources and secures permission to use external data sets, including government-issued open data and other freely available resources
- Ensures all data usage complies with licensing agreements and legal requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in library science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field
- 5+ years proven experience in data management, data curation, or a related role
- Strong understanding of data profiling, quality assurance, and data integration
- Experience working with external data vendors and ensuring legal compliance
- Experience with data labeling programs and understanding of their nuances
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data engineering concepts is a plus

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in our Playa Vista, California location is $125,000 to $154,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience applicable to the role and within the industry, education, geographic location, etc. Commercial Real Estate Exchange, Inc (“Crexi”) is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
