The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of solutions focused on data engineering and ETL workflows. As a Sr. Software Engineer - Data, you will work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and help them achieve outcomes with your solutions and guidance. You will research all data sources concerning business operations and be responsible for outlining designs to integrate, centralize, and maintain the data. You will help to establish a new data engineering practice and be a technical leader within the Product organization.
Role Description
Help to drive our organizational data strategy, including data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
Share expertise by collaborating and coaching team members through code and design reviews to ensure code integration into systems is up to team standards
Set a positive example for the team by consistently shipping high quality solutions and maintaining a high standard of technical excellence
Coordinate and collaborate with development teams, stakeholders, and customers for smooth functioning of data systems
Extend and support a data engineering environment with a focus on developer experience that facilitates maximum efficiency, testing, and integration
Make recommendations for continuous improvement of our existing data and ETL processes
Participate in optimizing our end-to-end data architecture, from selection of technology, design, development, security, and testing of applications
Lead in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, architecture diagrams and visualizations for development teams and internal stakeholders
Review best practices around data architecture with internal team members
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience
Minimum 10 years' experience developing data applications, relational databases, and ETL platforms
Previous Experience building highly available and testable ETL systems that support critical business operations
Expert knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing
Expert knowledge of SQL scripting
Demonstrates excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills
Ability to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to shift priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Strong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks
Excellent time-management skills
Strong problem prevention, and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
Preferred Skills
Computer science education or equivalent experience
Hands-on experience with Databricks
Hands-on experience with PowerBI report development
Hands-on experience and knowledge of the Python programming language
Experience processing and reporting against large amounts of financial data in a scalable fashion
Public cloud expertise and/or certifications - Azure, AWS, GCP
Hands-on experience with DevOps methodologies and concepts including CI/CD, IaC and automated testing
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 which includes a base plus bonus structure. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
