Our client, an innovative publicly traded cloud infrastructure company and AI compute provider in an exciting stage of growth, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist in its search for a Senior Corporate Counsel / Associate General Counsel, Disputes (title dependent on experience). This attorney will report directly to the General Counsel and will own the company’s global disputes portfolio, serving as a trusted advisor to business and legal leaders across the organization.

As the company has scaled, so have the volume and variety of its disputes. This attorney will manage matters spanning commercial and employment disputes, intellectual property, government and regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and the third-party legal process that comes with operating a global platform. This is a broad, high-impact role within a small, collaborative legal team, working closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, Security, Finance, and People across the organization.

Responsibilities

    • Own the company’s global disputes portfolio end to end — from early assessment and pre-litigation strategy through resolution — including commercial, employment, intellectual property, and non-practicing entity matters.
    • Lead the company’s response to government and regulatory inquiries, including regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, subpoenas, preservation and takedown demands, escalated privacy complaints, and requests from domestic and international law enforcement.
    • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Sales, Security, Finance, and People to identify potential disputes early and provide practical recommendations that balance legal exposure with business objectives.
    • Advise the People team on employment matters and dispute avoidance, and support the commercial team when claims or threats surface in negotiations and customer escalations.
    • Counsel executives and, where appropriate, the Board on litigation risk, risk tolerance, and emerging legal and regulatory developments.
    • Select and manage outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions, and build the scalable processes, playbooks, and legal hold and discovery practices that support a high-growth global business.

Qualifications

    • Approximately 6–10 years of litigation or disputes experience at a leading law firm, an in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
    • Experience managing complex commercial disputes independently, from early case assessment through resolution.
    • Demonstrated success managing outside counsel, litigation budgets, discovery, legal holds, and eDiscovery.
    • Sound judgment, strong ownership, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while delivering practical solutions that help the business scale responsibly.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to distill complex legal issues into practical business advice.
    • Composure and credibility in high-pressure situations, including direct interaction with law enforcement, regulators, and opposing counsel.
    • Ability to quickly learn adjacent practice areas and manage multiple high-priority matters in a fast-paced environment.
    • Exposure to employment disputes, internal investigations, or government and regulatory inquiries is a plus.
    • In-house experience supporting enterprise software, cloud services, data centers, artificial intelligence, or cybersecurity is a plus.
    • J.D. and active bar admission required. A mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the disputes and litigation strategy of a rapidly growing public technology company. The successful candidate will work on sophisticated, business-critical matters, partner with senior leadership across the organization, and influence decisions at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.

This position is fully remote within the United States. Compensation is expected to range from $240,000 to $275,000 in base salary, plus an annual target bonus and equity, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Solutus Legal Search has been exclusively retained for this search. Resumes submitted directly to our client will be forwarded to Solutus for review and evaluation. Given the anticipated volume of applicants, we will respond only to candidates whose backgrounds align with our client’s hiring criteria. We appreciate your understanding.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
