As a Sr. Content Director, you will visually bring to life strategic short and long-form brand videos across a variety of genres and channels. This role requires in depth experience in hands-on video directing and leading video crews on sets. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of directing and delivering high-visibility video projects and campaigns. Their portfolio demonstrates work created with extraordinary taste and craft, executions across a broad range of styles and genres, the ability to craft a compelling story, and a deep understanding of how to direct and execute videos across multiple platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc.). The candidate must be comfortable collaborating with partners and stakeholders across all levels, including Chewy Executives, to ideate, present, and direct work of the highest quality. They should have a deep understanding of and practical experience working with strategic input briefs, and an advanced ability to translate video concept pitch decks into actionable video production plans. What You'll Do
- Direct complex, multi-channel marketing campaigns, leading end-to-end video direction for multi-creative video concepts across preproduction, production and post, establishing visual looks and execution, leading videography teams and guiding human and pet talent performance and execution
- Translate brand creative concepts and storyboards into shooting boards and production-ready shooting direction, collaborating closely with DPs, videographers, Production, Art, Pet/Talent, and Post teams
- Partner with Brand Creative and lead studio teams in all video creative aspects of assigned projects, including direction on props, styling, set design, human and pet talent casting criteria, wardrobe, motion design treatments, music direction, color, and finishing
- Own and manage creative pre-production and concept decks and any required documentation (Figma + PowerPoint), ensuring clear direction, alignment, and version control throughout project lifecycles
- Lead studio kickoffs, pre-pro meetings, and present creative work to Brand and stakeholder partners, guiding conversations in close partnership with Production and cross-functional teams
- Guide post-production through edit sessions and reviews, providing clear, actionable feedback and partnering with Brand/stakeholders to interpret and implement notes
- Create design mock-ups and visual comps (video end cards, motion reference frames, AI-generated visual references) to clarify creative direction, align teams, and unblock production and post-production
- Deliver consistent high-quality output while confidently adhering to brand standards/guidelines across projects
- Stay abreast of current video content and technology trends in the advertising, entertainment, and visual design communities, and suggest ways in which to incorporate these trends into our work
- Consistently deliver work with the utmost insight and craft while having fun doing it every day
What You'll Need
- An ad school, liberal arts, or bachelor's degree in video production
- 6+ years as a video content creator directly responsible for developing and delivering video creative campaigns across a variety of styles, genres, and platforms. Experience must be grounded in narrative directing, agency video art direction, studio art direction, or creative video producing.
- A public portfolio of your work is a must. Along with your resume and cover letter, please submit a link to your portfolio with your application
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and other appropriate tools of the trade; design fluency is a bonus
- Advances experience and understanding of post-production processes - motion design, animation, CGI, VFX, and a working knowledge of the Adobe Premiere Pro editing system
- Advanced knowledge and experience with video and digital cinema cameras, including DSLR and mirror-less cameras (Sony, Canon)
- A proven track record of translating creative briefs and business objectives into video concepts that solved for challenges, and got produced
- Must be comfortable navigating and synthesizing feedback from multiple creative partners and stakeholders, integrating input into a cohesive final product that meets the brief
- A proven track record and demonstrable experience leading the creative vision of projects that include video, print, concept boards, story boards, graphic/motion design, and/or animation
- Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate the WHY behind your creative concepts, approaches and executions, in addition to an ability to unite a team around one objective and outcome
- Exceptional presentation skills - a requirement for both internal and external creative presentations
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while adhering to deadlines
- Knowledge and interest in Chewy and a genuine love of pets and animals of all shapes and sizes
- Position may require travel. Expect flexibility in work hours and schedules based on production needs
