Job Description:

Location: Candidate must reside in the state of California.

The opportunity: 

The Senior Compliance Analyst reports directly to the Director of Regulatory and Managed Care Compliance, in California supporting the U.S. Business Unit.  The position is responsible for supporting compliance and quality management programs in one or more Business Units.  This includes the implementation, oversight, and monitoring of the compliance framework with the Business Unit(s). This is an intermediate individual contributor role in the Sun Life U.S. Compliance Department.  The position is responsible for both direct support of compliance and quality program activities and day-to-day oversight and monitoring activities.  This position includes working collaboratively with Compliance and Quality Analysts in the performance of related duties. This collaboration includes guidance, cross-training and mentoring as appropriate. In addition to providing Business Unit support, this position may also support the Financial Crimes Program, Privacy Program, and Regulatory Compliance Management Program.  The position may also assist in the research and investigation of issues arising out of regulatory exams, Internal Audits or other regulatory matters.

How you will contribute: 

  • Supports the team in providing a comprehensive monitoring program related to compliance and quality requirements and expectations
  • Under the supervision of the Director or Associate Director helps to research and investigate issues arising out of Market Conduct exams, Internal Audits or other regulatory matters 
  • Prepares and publishes internal and external reports on Quality and Compliance programs
  • Supports the team in providing a comprehensive monitoring program related to regulatory risks and controls
  • Assists implementation, monitoring, and reporting of required Quality Improvement Plans and Corrective Action Plans for the California programs
  • Maintain familiarity with company risk management policies and procedures
  • Drafts company quality/compliance bulletins, reviews and edits marketing materials and forms, correspondence, and other communication
  • Participate in compliance and quality projects as needed
  • Draft, maintain, and disseminate procedures, records, and reports as needed
  • Encourage, promote, and enhance a culture that supports the Code of Conduct, encourages ethical behavior and a commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations                                   
  • Participate in industry-related calls and events
  • Participate in the assessment of new or amended laws and regulations affecting the Company’s business, monitoring necessary actions for implementation, and tracking implementation and compliance with such actions
  • Support the development of policies and procedures to maintain effective compliance with legal and regulatory standards as well as Sun Life policies

What you will bring with you: 

  • Knowledge of and experience with Quality and Compliance in Managed Care Programs
  • Bachelor’s Degree, professional certificate, or equivalent business experience in regulatory compliance and quality, roles and functions

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Applies good judgment, analyses issues carefully and proposes practical solutions
  • Strong communication (written and oral), research and presentation skills
  • Strong computer and database skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team-oriented setting and to follow management directions
  • Supports others in the execution of their duties

Salary:  $73900 - 110900
