Who we are:

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We are bringing much-needed innovation into the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry. We have developed cutting-edge predictive models that use real-time IoT data from billions of connected devices, allowing us to better understand and price risk. Our AI-driven platform fundamentally changes the way an insurance company operates with personalized risk scoring, faster underwriting, modernized claims, and proactive, data-driven insights to help customers prevent accidents.

We’ve already proven the scale—reaching well over $100 million in premiums and more than doubling year over year. Our data moat is growing exponentially with more than 20 billion miles of telematics data, leading to more predictive models and new insights into how we can better understand and reduce risk. Altogether, our loss ratio, efficiency, and customer experience are redefining what can be done in the industry.

With $170+ million raised, including an industry-leading Series C round in January 2025, we’re only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana’s leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Rubrik, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Hiscox, The Hartford, and RLI.

About the role:

The Nirvana Non-fleet Program is our "startup within a startup", launched in Dec. '23 to serve small trucking fleets and owner-operators. This segment presents a massive opportunity for Nirvana, and we're excited to add a Senior Business Operations Manager to help drive the continued growth of the Program by leading a variety of initiatives alongside a world-class team that is growing a modern commercial insurance product from the ground up.

Reporting directly to the Non-fleet GM, you will partner with teams including Product, Marketing, Business Development and Underwriting to drive strategy and create the frameworks and processes that enable the Non-fleet Program to scale successfully.

This is not just a strategy role though - you will be responsible for executing a variety of projects and initiatives and that will drive a direct, tangible impact on Nirvana’s business results.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategy: Identify, triage, and drive the strategic thinking on key questions, issues, and roadblocks facing the Non-fleet Program.

  • Analysis & Insights: Conduct quantitative research and analysis that results in compelling takeaways and recommendations for our leadership team.

  • Impact & Execution: Take end-to-end ownership of critical operational processes, turning strategy into reality.

  • Planning / Reporting: Help develop and track critical operating metrics for the Non-fleet Program and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.

  • Since we’re still in scrappy startup mode, there’s a lot of rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive direct impact on a daily basis. We knock out today’s problems while balancing our need to build for the long-term.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity or a similar industry or experience with business operations in a high-growth company.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfort working in a high growth, ambiguous environment.

  • Critical thinker who isn’t afraid to be a provocateur and make decisions.

  • Diplomacy, tact, and poise under pressure when working through issues.

  • Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty & stretch yourself.

  • Owner mentality - take accountability for your actions & results.

  • Nice to have: MBA

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • 401k with company match

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Hybrid-work environment, 2+ days/week in SF office

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
