About you and this role 

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Development Specialist! The preferred location for this position is Houston, TX, however Midland, MI or virtual office within the United States can be considered. 


In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities through the discovery of new customers, applications, and market segments within ICT (Infrastructure, Consumer and Transportation) and Wire & Cable segments of our Packing & Specialty Plastics (P&SP) business. You will work closely with Marketing, Technical Service & Development (TS&D), Product Management, and Commercial teams to create demand, develop value propositions, and accelerate growth in targeted markets. Your focus will be on expanding Dow’s market presence by generating new opportunities rather than managing existing business.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the identification, qualification, and development of new customer and application opportunities aligned with business growth priorities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects, new projects, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing to identify market trends, unmet customer needs, and strategic growth segments.
  • Partner with Technical Service & Development teams to evaluate application feasibility, support product trials, and accelerate commercialization of new solutions.
  • Develop and execute market penetration strategies to establish Dow products in new applications and customer accounts.
  • Engage decision-makers and influencers across customer organizations to build relationships and uncover new business opportunities.
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to guide business strategy and innovation priorities.
  • Lead opportunity development from initial prospecting through qualification, value proposition development, proposal creation, and commercial launch.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of new business development initiatives.
  • Support forecasting, pipeline management, and business planning activities related to growth projects and new customer acquisition.
  • Deliver growth targets through new customer wins, application development, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, customer technologies, and competitive offerings to position Dow as a preferred innovation partner.

Required Qualifications


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree at or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.  
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience. 
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • A minimum requirement for these U.S. based positions is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

Preferred Qualifications


  • A degree discipline in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in B2B sales, business development, market development, or application development.
