If you’re passionate about creating solutions that put people first and helping businesses and their teams thrive, join us at Deputy and make an impact where it matters most!

As a Senior Business Development Representative (Sr. BDR) at Deputy, you will be a key driver of new business acquisition within targeted strategic segments. Leveraging your proven expertise, you'll lead innovative outbound strategies, build pipelines, and act as a mentor to junior BDRs. This role demands an experienced BDR who can navigate complex sales cycles, build strong relationships with key decision-makers, and consistently exceed performance targets.

In this role, you will lead strategic outbound campaigns, conduct in depth prospect research, and expertly qualify leads. You will also be responsible for coordinating strategic discovery calls and demonstrations with the Account Executive team, ensuring seamless transitions and maximising conversion rates and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, engage, and qualify high-value prospects within strategic industries, focusing on mid market and enterprise level accounts.
  • Create and execute strategic outbound campaigns, utilising a multi channel approach (phone, email, social media) to generate qualified opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough discovery calls to understand complex business needs, identify pain points, and align Deputy's solutions with strategic objectives.
  • Effectively leverage marketing collateral, including case studies, white papers, and presentations, to enhance prospect engagement and accelerate the sales cycle.
  • Navigate a high volume of sales inquiries and proactively reach out to prospects via phone calls (90% of your role will focus on outbound leads).
  • Accurately document prospects' pain points and business cases in our CRM (Salesforce) and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to refine prospecting strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Analyse sales data, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance pipeline generation and conversion rates.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BDRs, sharing best practices and contributing to their professional development.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of proven outbound sales experience, with a focus on mid market and enterprise level accounts.
  • Proven track record of success in a BDR or similar role, with a focus on outbound sales and mid market and enterprise level accounts.
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing strategic outbound account plans, research, and prospecting strategies.
  • Exceptional ability to engage and build rapport with C-level executives and key decision-makers.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and resilience; adaptability to the dynamics of startup life.
  • Ability to engage key decision-makers and translate their pain points into viable product solutions.
  • Experience qualifying prospects and effectively relaying insights to Account Executives.
  • Data-driven and process-oriented approach to work.
  • A growth mindset, focused on continuous learning and achievement.
  • Team-first mentality with a commitment to collective success.
  • Exceptional phone presence, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Strong track record of consistently meeting and exceeding measurable performance goals.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritisation, and project management skills.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, or healthcare/medical sectors is advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

We are looking for individuals committed to continuous learning and who inspire their colleagues to succeed. If you are ready to contribute to our team and grow your career in sales, we want to hear from you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
