Senior Business Development Lead, North America

Potentia Human Resources is proud to partner with RCR Mining Technologies to recruit a Senior Business Development Lead, North America, a brand-new role created to establish and grow RCR’s presence across Canada and the United States. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced, values-aligned commercial leader to shape the strategy, build the network, and drive long-term growth for an Australian OEM entering the North American market.

This highly autonomous, externally facing role is ideal for someone who knows the mining, aggregates, and heavy industrial landscape inside and out, and who thrives on building something meaningful from the ground up. RCR has a strong global reputation, deep technical capability, and a trusted delivery record. With early momentum already underway in North America, the organization is intentionally going to market to invest in a strong leader who can connect the dots, open doors, and create a sustainable growth platform across the region.

Why Join RCR?

Build Something from the Ground Up

This is not a maintenance role. You’ll play a pivotal role in executing RCR’s North American growth strategy and strengthening their footprint across the region. This includes building strategic relationships, driving market activity, and helping translate strategy into tangible results in a growing market.

A Values-Led, Culturally Aligned Organization

RCR is known for its integrity, technical excellence, and long-term mindset. Cultural alignment matters deeply here. They are looking for someone who leads with authenticity, sound judgement, and respect for relationships.

A Truly Senior, Trust-Based Role

You’ll be empowered to work autonomously, manage your own time, and focus on outcomes, not hours. This is a role built on trust, flexibility, and accountability.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Strategy, Growth & Innovation, the Senior Business Development Lead (North America) will lead RCR’s regional business development strategy across Canada and the USA.

This role is responsible for building market presence, developing key customer and EPCM relationships, and progressing complex, long-lead commercial opportunities across mining, aggregates, and materials handling sectors. You’ll act as the face of RCR in North America, representing the brand with credibility, technical confidence, and commercial acumen.

The role is remote and location-flexible within Canada or the United States, with proximity to a major industry hub (e.g., Western Canada, Vancouver, Arizona, or similar) considered an asset. Extensive travel (approximately 50%) is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Strategy & Market Development

  • Lead RCR’s North American business development strategy in alignment with global growth objectives.
  • Identify priority markets, customers, and opportunities across mining, aggregates, and materials handling.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor insights, and trend analysis to inform strategic decision-making.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and sustain deep, trust-based relationships with customers, EPCMs, and industry partners.
  • Represent RCR at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical forums.
  • Establish RCR as a credible, long-term partner in the North American market.

Opportunity Development & Sales Leadership

  • Qualify, develop, and progress opportunities from early engagement through tendering and negotiation.
  • Collaborate closely with RCR’s Australian-based sales, engineering, and technical teams to deliver compelling proposals.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and accurate forecasting.

Technical & Commercial Credibility

  • Engage confidently with engineering, operational, and executive stakeholders on technical and commercial matters.
  • Translate customer requirements into solutions aligned with RCR’s products and capabilities.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between customers and RCR subject matter experts.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Partner with the Head of Strategy, Growth & Innovation on go-to-market strategy, pricing, and regional priorities.
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline development, risks, opportunities, and insights.
  • Contribute to organizational learning by sharing customer feedback and industry intelligence.

Requirements

About You

You are a senior business development leader with a strong industry reputation and an established North American network. You’re commercially sharp, technically credible, and motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful rather than chase quick wins.

You Bring:

  • A proven track record in business development or sales leadership within mining, aggregates, materials handling, or heavy industrial markets.
  • Deep relationships across operators, EPCMs, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience progressing complex, long-lead, capital equipment opportunities.
  • Strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking.
  • The ability to work autonomously across geographies while collaborating effectively with global teams.
  • A leadership style grounded in integrity, curiosity, and long-term partnership.
  • Experience with global OEMs or major industry suppliers (e.g., Metso, FLSmidth, McLanahan, ThyssenKrupp) is considered an asset.

Compensation & Benefits

RCR anticipates offering the successful candidate a base salary of approximately $180,000, plus a variable incentive component tied to agreed-upon commercial objectives. The total compensation package is expected to be highly competitive and reflective of the seniority, autonomy, and impact of the role.

Additional benefits include a company vehicle or vehicle allowance (depending on the successful candidate’s circumstances), fully expensed travel, corporate credit card, four weeks of vacation, personal leave, and flexibility in how and where work is performed.

If you are a senior business development leader energized by building long-term partnerships and shaping the growth of an organization entering an exciting new market, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your current resume and cover letter outlining how your experience, industry relationships, and leadership approach position you to succeed in this role.

Recruitment Process:

  • Initial video interview with Potentia Human Resources.
  • Video interview with Potentia HR and RCR senior leadership.
  • Final interview typically in person, with location flexible depending on candidate availability and concentration (e.g., Vancouver, Toronto, or another major hub).
  • Reference and background checks.
  • Offer of employment.

RCR is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building diverse, inclusive teams. They welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to providing a barrier-free recruitment process. Accommodations will be provided throughout the process as required. Please contact [email protected] for accessibility requests.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
