Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
Rare opportunity to shape how Atlassian's brands are structured, positioned, and experienced across our portfolio. You'll be hands on at a pivotal moment: new brand positioning to activate, portfolio unification work in flight, AI brand system evolution, and the chance to help run our Brand Intelligence Engine (our always-on system that keeps brand decisions grounded in real customer and market signal). High impact, high ownership, and highly visible seat working directly with leaders in Marketing, Product, Design, and Research.
Day in the life
  • Contribute to brand architecture and portfolio strategy that determines how our products relate to one another and to the parent brand.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to make sure that brand architecture and our unification efforts show up cohesively across customer experiences, not just on paper.
  • Help run our Brand Intelligence Engine: our human and AI-led system that turns always-on brand health, competitive, and real-time customer signals into pulse briefs and readouts that feed our brand and GTM narratives.
  • Be connective tissue for our new brand positioning, translating it into focused, actionable direction that Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Creative, and Comms teams can activate to build our brand platform.
  • Weigh in on brand identity and ways to cohere brand experiences across channels, mediums, and product experiences

Must haves
  • Typically 8+ years of experience, though care more about range than tenure.
  • Deep brand strategy and craft expertise: you know how brand gets built inside a company - even better if you have experience building brands inside a product-led company.
  • Built brands end to end, not just decks; you understand how brand identity influences experience patterns, how naming is part of product strategy, how clear brand architecture leads to sharp messaging, and understand and can translate technical product decisions into coherent brand systems.
  • Experience standing up or running a brand intelligence/insights function, including AI-assisted research systems (Rovo or equivalent), that turns always-on research into readouts teams actually act on.
  • Hands-on experience with a complex, multi-product, multi-brand portfolio - ideally in B2B SaaS (or similar fast-moving environment operating at the speed of AI).
  • Fluency in brand architecture and naming for an evolving, AI-native portfolio. You are as comfortable building the frameworks and decision principles as you are driving buy-in and alignment around them.
  • A track record influencing senior, technical stakeholders. You bring a confident, action-oriented point of view, hold it with humility, and follow up with tenacity.
  • Exceptional yet-not-overly-corporate writing and communication skills; you make the complex clear.
  • Note: This role is for a brand strategist who turns strategy into action. This is not a brand/content marketing role.

Team culture
We treat the brand as a shared asset, not a set of rules to enforce. We partner early with product, design, and marketing rather than reviewing at the finish line, and make the strategy legible enough for any team to apply without us in the room. We're opinionated about the big calls - what the brand stands for, how the portfolio fits together - and generous with the rest, trusting teams to interpret within clear guardrails. We argue in the open, decide with evidence, and hold each other to one standard: the Atlassian brand and our portfolio brands feel like one coherent point of view, everywhere customers meet them.
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.
Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
