We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with solid experience in Node.js, AWS, and scalable API architecture to join our engineering team. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving backend services with a focus on performance, security, observability, and best practices
This position is 100% remote, must be available to work during Pacific Time hours
**The candidate must be located in Latin America (no exceptions)
What Success Looks Like
- Built and deployed production-grade backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS that are performant, secure, and well-documented.
- Improved observability across the backend stack, setting up or optimizing monitoring and alerting using tools like Datadog, CloudWatch, or Sentry.
- Collaborated closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver features end-to-end with speed and quality.
- Owned technical decisions around architecture and infrastructure, contributing to high-level design discussions and ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- High-performance backend services
- Integrate with AWS cloud services
- Ensure code quality through testing and code reviews
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and design reviews
- Write clear and concise documentation
- Implement observability and monitoring practices to ensure system reliability and traceability
Essential Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering
- Hands-on experience in backend development with Node.js and AWS
- Advanced English (mandatory)
- Familiarity with monitoring systems, metrics, and error tracking
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Clear communication, proactivity, and ownership mindset
Must-Haves:
- Node.js with TypeScript
- Express.js
- AWS (Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Schema validation libraries (Zod or similar)
- PostgreSQL
- CI/CD using GitHub Actions
- Next.js (mainly backend and SSR use)
- Automated testing (unit and integration)
- Authentication & authorization (OAuth, JWT, Firebase or similar)
- API architecture and REST design best practices
- Performance tuning and API security
- Monitoring and observability of applications and services, with experience using tools like:
- Datadog
- New Relic
- Grafana + Prometheus
- AWS CloudWatch
- Sentry (for error tracking)
Nice-to-Haves:
- NestJS
- Docker
- Terraform
