As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer. Project Summary

AIS is seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer to design, build, and optimize secure Azure Virtual Desktop environments that provide a dependable user experience for Codex-enabled development and broader virtual desktop modernization for a federal customer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer AVD host pools, session hosts, images, scaling plans, application delivery, and user profiles.

  • Create secure desktop patterns for Codex access, including the required network segmentation, firewall rules, browser and developer-tool controls.

  • Implement and support FSLogix, Entra ID, Intune, profile storage, image lifecycle, and monitoring integrations.

  • Plan and execute Citrix transition activities, performance validation, capacity planning, and user acceptance testing.

  • Troubleshoot performance, sign-in, profile, application, network, and graphics issues across the AVD stack.

  • Produce deployment standards, operational runbooks, and technical knowledge transfer for steady-state support.

Required For This Opportunity
  • 7+ years of endpoint, virtual desktop, or Windows infrastructure engineering experience.

  • Hands-on AVD design and implementation experience with pooled and personal desktop patterns.

  • Strong knowledge of FSLogix, Windows 11, Entra ID, Intune, Azure networking, and profile-storage design.

  • Experience with image engineering, application packaging, performance tuning, and monitoring.

  • Ability to work independently in a secure, highly controlled enterprise environment.

Nice to Have Skills
  • Citrix migration experience.

  • IGEL, thin-client, GPU-enabled desktop, or Azure NetApp Files experience.

  • Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification.

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $121,000-$182,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location. We value transparency in our hiring process and are happy to discuss how your unique qualifications align with our compensation structure during the interview process.
