Citrin Cooperman offers a dynamic work environment, fostering professional growth and collaboration. We’re continuously seeking talented individuals who bring a problem-solving mindset, fresh perspectives, and sharp technical expertise. We know you have choices, so our team of collaborative, innovative professionals are ready to support your professional development. At Citrin Cooperman, we offer competitive compensation and benefits and most importantly, the flexibility to manage your personal and professional life to focus on what matters most to you!
We are looking for a Senior – Automation Engineer, Development to join our Development team within the Information Technology department. This is a founding seat: our internal automation engineering function is early in its journey, and you will help build it from the ground up, with real ownership of the practices, standards, and tooling still being written. It is an internal enablement role, not a client-facing one. You will embed with our engagement teams to find and remove the manual, repetitive work that slows delivery down, and build the automations, apps, and workflows that let practitioners spend their time on client work instead of overhead. Working predominantly on the Microsoft stack the firm already runs on (Power Platform, SharePoint, Dataverse, and the wider M365 ecosystem), you will ship governed, supportable solutions rather than one-off scripts, and partner with our senior engineers on the harder builds. There is room to grow with the function as it scales.
Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Work directly with engagement teams to map how work happens today, identify automation opportunities, and improve the process before automating it.
- Build and maintain canvas and model-driven Power Apps, Power Automate flows, and Dataverse and SharePoint-backed solutions that streamline delivery for Advisory teams.
- Connect disparate systems using standard and custom connectors, and flag where a pro-code API or integration is the better answer.
- Build AI-assisted workflows using Microsoft Copilot Studio, AI Builder, and the firm's approved AI tooling, helping teams put AI to work day to day.
- Follow the firm's Power Platform governance and application lifecycle standards (managed solutions, environment strategy, versioning), keeping what you build secure, compliant, and supportable.
- Document solutions clearly and support end users, raising the firm's overall ability to build and maintain its own automations.
- Monitor what you ship, iterate on it, and identify where Power Platform and M365 can be leveraged further.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must:
- Have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Have 3+ years building automation solutions, including hands-on Power Platform experience (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse), with a track record of automations that reached production and stuck.
- Have RPA or intelligent automation experience (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Power Automate) is a plus, including strong RPA backgrounds looking to go deeper on the Power Platform.
- Have hands-on experience integrating Power Platform with SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Teams, and third-party systems via connectors and APIs.
- Be comfortable with light pro-code where low-code stops (expressions, formulas, and scripting such as PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript).
- Have a solid grasp of Power Platform governance and application lifecycle management (environments, managed solutions, versioning, and the Center of Excellence model).
- Have exposure to AI-enabled automation (Copilot Studio, AI Builder, or LLM-based tooling), or a clear appetite to build it.
- Have strong process-mapping and requirements-gathering skills, with the discipline to fix a process before automating it.
- Be able to communicate clearly with non-technical practitioners and translate business problems into working solutions.
- Be comfortable operating in a complex, matrixed, and governed environment.
- Have Microsoft Power Platform certifications such as PL-900 or PL-400 (preferred).
- Be energized by early-stage, build-from-the-ground-up environments where the playbook is still being written and structure has to be created, not just followed.
- Be automation-minded to your core: you see repetitive, manual work as a problem to be engineered away, not endured.
- Be a self-starter, comfortable operating independently and embedding directly with business teams.
- Have PE-backed or professional-services experienced, ideally at an accounting or consulting firm (a strong plus).
