What You’ll Be Doing: Hands-on Senior Accountant responsible for supporting the general ledger close and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet across key technical accounting areas including payroll, fixed assets, lease accounting, and debt. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager and broader finance team to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in a fast-growing CPG environment. • Assist in maintaining internal control documentation and evidence for assigned process areas.

Payroll Accounting

  • Record payroll journal entries, accruals, and related liability accounts in coordination with HR and third-party payroll providers.
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts including accrued compensation, benefits, and employer tax liabilities.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll variances and support payroll-related audit inquiries.

Fixed Assets

  • Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger; record additions, disposals, transfers, and monthly depreciation in accordance with ASC 360 and company capitalization policy.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset roll forward schedules and reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Support periodic physical fixed assets register counts and assist in preparing fixed asset disclosures for external reporting.

Lease Accounting (ASC 842)

  • Support the lease accounting process including preparation of ROU asset and lease liability journal entries, amortization schedules, and remeasurement entries for modifications.
  • Maintain lease schedules and ensure the lease portfolio is complete and accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Prepare lease disclosure schedules supporting external financial reporting and respond to auditor requests.

Loans & Debt Accounting

  • Prepare journal entries for term loans, revolving credit facilities, and other debt instruments; maintain debt amortization schedules including debt issuance costs.
  • Reconcile interest expense accruals and ensure accurate current vs. long-term classification of debt on the balance sheet.
  • Support preparation of debt-related disclosures and covenant compliance schedules.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reconciliation templates, and strengthen controls across assigned areas.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager to document and update standard operating procedures as the business evolves.

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick ALL of these boxes.):

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience; public company or Big 4/regional public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting external financial reporting and audit processes, including preparation of workpapers and schedules consistent with external reporting standards
  • Working knowledge of ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 360 (fixed assets)
  • Strong understanding of internal controls over financial reporting; SOX experience a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
