Living our values everyday results in our team-first culture and enables us to innovate, grow, and thrive while enjoying the journey together. We celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment, empowering our employees to be their authentic selves.

We are looking for a Senior Account Strategy Manager to directly support Sales Directors on Five9’s most complex, opportunistic Enterprise and Strategic deals. Reporting to the Senior Director, Account Strategy, this leader will provide hands-on support on live pursuits and help carry out the frameworks and programs for deal strategy.

The Senior Account Strategy Manager diagnoses where a pursuit needs intervention, challenges the existing approach when it isn’t working, strengthens the customer value narrative and helps remove barriers to progress.

This role works directly alongside Sales Directors on complex, multi-stakeholder pursuits, helping build value-led narratives.

In the most complex pursuits this role helps coordinate internal and partner teams and supports activity across milestones and deliverables, working in partnership with the Senior Director, Account Strategy. This also means working across Sales, Solution Consulting, Professional Services, Product, and Marketing, Account-Based Selling, and Path to Partnership, to bring consistency to how Five9 supports these engagements.

The ideal candidate has supported complex, multi-stakeholder Enterprise or Strategic accounts before and is comfortable staying hands-on across many moving pieces at once.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Complex Opportunities & Executive Positioning
  • Directly support Sales Directors on high-value, complex opportunities — helping align approach to customer priorities and transformation goals, and bringing structure to positioning, executive engagement, and deal approach.
  • Help build value-led narratives and executive summaries — supporting Sales Directors with clear, outcome-focused value propositions and win themes for C-level stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on support across a portfolio of complex Enterprise and Strategic deals — spending the majority of time working directly with Sales Directors on live pursuits.
  • Apply clear engagement criteria — prioritizing where direct support can have the greatest impact based on deal complexity, strategic importance, competitive pressure, AI opportunity, and wider account potential.
Supporting Complex Pursuits
  • Support Sales Directors on RFPs, PoVs, and multi-partner engagements — coordinating inputs across Five9 and partners, and structuring activity across milestones and deliverables.
  • Pressure-test the deal before it advances — refining the deal structure, modeling pricing options, building the business case, and shaping the negotiation plan, then presenting to senior approvers (Five9’s Delegation of Authority process) and engaging Partner Operations as needed.
  • Contribute to core deal artifacts — proposals, implementation approaches, and commercial narratives — so Sales Directors can move pursuits with clarity and pace.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and Revenue Operations in support of Sales Directors structuring, negotiating, and closing complex deals.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Repeatable Execution
  • Help align Sales, Solution Consulting, Professional Services, Product, and Marketing around a shared understanding of the account and opportunity.
  • Apply — and sharpen — frameworks such as SPICED, Account-Based Selling, and Path to Partnership — bringing consistent, repeatable support to complex enterprise engagements, and testing, refining, and improving those frameworks based on what actually works in the field.
  • Support lifecycle alignment from pre-sale to post-sale — capturing and handing over customer priorities, value outcomes, commitments, implementation context, and future growth opportunities, so implementation, adoption, and Day 2 begin with a deliberate transition rather than re-discovery.
GTM & Collateral Support
  • Support joint GTM propositions — helping develop clearer value propositions and a coherent narrative in partner-led opportunities.
  • Contribute to sales collateral and reusable assets — feeding into and refining executive summaries, proposals, and other materials Sales Directors rely on.
  • Turn field experience into scalable playbooks — identifying why pursuits are won or lost, translating lessons from live deals into case studies and practical field guidance, and sharing recurring insights with the wider Sales organization.
Partnership & Workload Management
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Account Strategy to align day-to-day support with the broader account strategy approach.
  • Balance multiple concurrent pursuits across Sales Directors and deal cycles — switching comfortably between priorities while maintaining sufficient depth to influence the strategy and outcome.
  • Contribute to a network of competence — helping bring together the right stakeholders across Sales, Product, Professional Services, Partners, and Advisory teams.
Candidate Requirements and Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic account management, deal strategy, or sales strategy roles directly supporting complex, Enterprise, multi-stakeholder pursuits.
  • Experience helping build value-led narratives and executive positioning materials for C-level stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting complex pursuits — RFPs, PoVs, multi-partner engagements — alongside Sales Directors and across internal and partner teams.
  • Experience partnering with technology or ecosystem partners (e.g., Google Cloud, system integrators such as Accenture or Deloitte) on joint GTM positioning is a plus.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies and frameworks such as SPICED, Account-Based Selling, or similar structured approaches to enterprise engagements.
  • Comfort managing multiple concurrent deals across multiple Sales Directors, while maintaining the depth needed to influence strategy and outcome.
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern AI tools, a clear point of view on applying them to account strategy and executive positioning work, and an understanding of how AI is changing customer priorities, competitive positioning, and Five9’s deal strategy — particularly on pursuits where AI opportunity is itself a reason for engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree highly recommended in business or a related field; equivalent experience considered.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
