Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Oligonucleotide Scientist II to join the Nucleic Acid Design and Discovery team within the Protein Sciences department. This role will support the discovery and development of oligonucleotide therapeutics and contribute to advancing innovative RNA-based medicines across multiple therapeutic areas.
Design, develop, and execute oligonucleotide synthesis workflows using automated synthesizers
Perform purification and characterization of oligonucleotides using techniques such as HPLC and mass spectrometry
Troubleshoot synthesis processes and perform impurity profiling to ensure high-quality output
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across biology, chemistry, and therapeutic areas (oncology, immunology, neuroscience)
Conduct literature reviews and propose experimental strategies for nucleic acid chemistry
Develop and optimize scalable synthesis methods for lead compounds
Support preclinical studies by coordinating material production and delivery timelines
Maintain and operate laboratory equipment including oligo synthesizers, HPLC systems, and desalting units
Ensure accurate documentation and maintain high productivity in a fast-paced lab
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field
Hands-on experience in oligonucleotide synthesis using automated synthesizers
Strong experience in purification and characterization techniques (HPLC, Mass Spectrometry)
Solid understanding of nucleic acid chemistry and oligonucleotide modification strategies
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Experience in RNAi or oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery
Knowledge of nucleic acid delivery systems and bioconjugation techniques
Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology R&D environments
Understanding of sequence design, mechanism of action, and therapeutic applications
Exposure to large molecule drug discovery
