Overview & Responsibilities

The Salesforce Administrator is a business-owned role based in New Apparatus (NA) and is the day-to-day owner of Ebara Elliott Energy's (EEE) Salesforce platform for both North America and Global Services (GS/ES). The role turns business needs into scalable Salesforce solutions and balances priorities across both groups, while working within the enterprise standards for security, integration, data, and change management set by EEE IT. IT remains the technical partner and owner of enterprise architecture, integrations, identity, and cybersecurity.

Background and Experience:

Required Experience & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • Experience: 6+ years of hands-on enterprise Salesforce administration experience, preferably within a global manufacturing, aftermarket service, or complex supply-chain environment.
  • Automation Depth: Expert-level mastery of Salesforce Flow Builder and declarative process automation.
  • Cloud Architecture: Deep foundational knowledge of Sales Cloud and Service Cloud data models, object behaviors, and security architecture.
  • Governance: Proven experience working within IT governance (change and release management, sandbox strategy, and security reviews) in partnership with an enterprise IT organization.
  • Multi-Group Support: Experience supporting multiple business units or divisions on a shared org and balancing competing priorities.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to business leaders, users, and IT.

 Certifications

  • Required: Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator (formerly Administrator).
  • Preferred: Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II (formerly Advanced Administrator).
  • Pluses: Platform App Builder, Agentforce Specialist, architect-track certifications, or CPQ / Revenue Cloud credentials.

Preferred

  • Sales Baseline: Experience in Salesforce, CPQ, or similar as an active user in a sales environment.
  • Field Service: Experience with Field Service or Aftermarket service processes (service quotes, work orders, installed base).
  • Programmatic Elements: Familiarity reading or writing basic programmatic elements (Apex, SOQL, or LWC).
  • Integration Concepts: Working knowledge of integration concepts (APIs, middleware such as MuleSoft or Boomi) and data tools such as Data Loader.
  • Analytics Platforms: Experience connecting Salesforce data to advanced analytics platforms like Tableau or Power BI.

Nature of the Job:

To ensure seamless operations, alignment with enterprise architecture, and robust risk management, the Salesforce Administrator operates under a co-ownership model with EEE IT.

Governance & Architecture Reviews

  • Joint Salesforce Governance Forum: Lead recurring (e.g., monthly) Salesforce governance forum with NA, GS/ES, and IT leadership to align the platform roadmap, review system health, and prioritize the backlog across business units equitably.
  • Pre-Approval Gateways: Obtain formal IT review and approval prior to executing any modifications that impact integration points, API users, or the fundamental security sharing model.
  • Third-Party Evaluation: Coordinate with IT Systems and Security teams to vet, approve, and clear all AppExchange packages, connected apps, or external developer tools before introduction.

Environment & Release Management

  • Production Protection: Adhere strictly to the IT-approved environment strategy. Absolutely no declarative configuration or development changes are to be built directly in the Production environment.
  • DevOps Alignment: Utilize only EEE-approved DevOps tooling (e.g., Salesforce DevOps Center or GitHub) for all lifecycle deployments moving from sandbox environments through testing, user acceptance (UAT), and deployment.
  • Upgrade Coordination: Collaborate directly with IT during Salesforce's major triannual releases to proactively evaluate system compatibility, run regression testing, and safely evaluate emerging technologies (such as Einstein AI and Agent force) within IT's data security framework.

Identity, Security, & Business Continuity

  • Access Lifecycle Integration: Partner with IT to automate and audit the user access lifecycle (onboarding, role changes, offboarding) and enforce technical mandates like multi-factor authentication (MFA) and least-privilege permission sets.
  • Break-Glass Administration: Provide and maintain a designated "break-glass" System Administrator account reserved exclusively for IT to ensure platform access during emergencies or personnel vacancies.
  • Data Continuity: Align all backup, recovery, and data retention schedules with IT Infrastructure policies to prevent data loss and ensure compliance with global records retention standards.

Specific Job Responsibilities/Competencies:

Platform Ownership & Automation

  • Flow Optimization: Design advanced Flow automations, custom objects, validation rules, and scalable data models that support NA and GS/ES business processes on a shared, consistent Salesforce (SF) platform.
  • Feature Management: Manage core go-to-market (GTM) and operational features for NA and GS/ES, including account management, pipeline tracking, quoting, contract handoffs, service processes, and related workflows.
  • Technical Standards: Maintain configuration standards, naming conventions, and a technical-debt log for the org, favoring declarative (configuration-first) solutions; engage IT before introducing custom code, new managed packages, or major data model changes.
  • Backlog Tracking: Maintain a single, transparent intake and backlog for NA and GS/ES requests, prioritized through the Salesforce governance forum so both groups are supported equitably.
  • Enterprise Integration & Data Governance
  • IT Architecture Support: Partner with IT, which owns integration architecture and middleware, to define requirements for, test, and support integrations between Salesforce and enterprise systems such as ERP, CPQ, and others, as the business requires.
  • Data Hygiene: Oversee data integrity and hygiene across pipelines, funnel tracking, and on-time delivery (OTD) quote-to-cash processes, using data normalization and deduplication tools and aligning with IT on enterprise master data (e.g., customer and product records).
  • Operational Analytics: Create, manage, and optimize custom reports and operational dashboards for NA and GS/ES pipelines, PM, KAM, executive leadership, and others, as the business requires.
  • Security, Compliance & Release Management
  • Security Model Control: Administer the Salesforce security model, including role hierarchies, sharing rules, permission sets, public groups, and field-level security, in line with EEE IT security policies and the principle of least privilege.
  • Project Leadership: Serve as business project lead during large-scale enhancements, upgrades, or changeovers where Salesforce is the cornerstone system, coordinating with IT and implementation partners.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure data in Salesforce is handled in line with EEE policies for export control, privacy, and records retention.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & User Support
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Partner with NA and GS/ES leaders across Sales, Service, Operations, Finance, PM, KAM, and Commercial Excellence to translate complex business problems into concrete technical solutions.
  • Escalation & Support: Act as the primary escalation point for Salesforce functional issues, system errors, and user support tickets; route issues involving login/SSO, integrations, or other connected systems through EEE’s IT ticketing process.
  • System Documentation: Document system configurations, architectural changes, and administrative processes in a shared repository accessible to IT; provide SF mentorship to junior administrators, analysts, and power users.
  • User Coaching: Act as the primary trainer, technical writer, resource, and user coach wherever Salesforce user education and resources are needed.
  • Licensing Coordination: Coordinate with IT and Procurement on Salesforce licensing, renewals, and the relationship with Salesforce and implementation partners.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
