We currently have an opening for a Manager, Corporate Development. This position will be located in Santa Monica, CA.

Managers, Corporate Development are key leaders in Deluxe’s Corporate Development team committed to solving some of the toughest problems in Deluxe’s various lines of business.
They are part of a highly nimble, analytical and effective team reporting to Deluxe’s Executive Vice President, Corporate Development. 

The Corporate Development team at Deluxe drives Deluxe’s growth strategy initiatives, helping the organization identify strategic opportunities to drive revenue and profitability. This includes developing the commercial strategy around new businesses, supporting Deluxe’s divisions to supercharge their performance and identifying, assessing and executing inorganic growth opportunities (M&A).

Managers, Corporate Development have a high level of responsibility in guiding and managing individual Corporate Development projects and teams and working closely with internal Deluxe stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of recommendations.

Typical projects include:
• Working in partnership with a business unit or market segment on core strategic issues
• Developing new market strategy including end-to-end assessment of issues such as attractiveness, go-to-market, risks, decision criteria, economic modeling, and business planning
• Identifying and evaluating potential merger and acquisition candidates, including developing M&A strategy
• Building externally facing macro, market, and competitor analysis 

Specific responsibilities include:
• Managers, Corporate Development work with the EVP of Corporate Development to outline the key business issues of Deluxe internal stakeholders and business leads. Managers, Corporate Development have the business acumen necessary to quickly identify key issues that need resolution early on.

• Forms a plan to find the answers to these critical questions. The Manager, Corporate Development will lay out the strategy to the team for finding the information, for instance market growth drivers, modelling, competitive profiling, or broad market trends. In some cases, Managers, Corporate Development will also have to conduct some of the research (primary and secondary) and perform some of the analysis required to deliver a recommendation (incl. developing models through tools such as Excel or Tableau to size markets, forecast growth rates, and build out revenue and CF models for new businesses / services).

• Manages more junior team members on a day-to-day basis; additionally, Managers, Corporate Development will have to interact, coach and leverage resources from the various Deluxe lines of business that they are serving, and as such may have teams which include resources from outside the Corporate Development team.

• Drives towards high quality, actionable answers to their business problems. Managers, Corporate Development ensure the team is on-track to accurately solve the problem and deliver an answer. Managers, Corporate Development supervise analyses, develop the structure for the final output, provide quality control, and in most cases, participate in the delivery of the conclusion to Deluxe’s senior management team. 

• Facilitates workshops and formulates presentations to share findings and recommendations for divisional and senior management critical to the decision-making process. Communicates findings and makes recommendations on issues under study. Can involve the development and rollout of tools to track progress against the key steps and milestones and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the strategic initiatives. 

Qualifications/skills/experience required

• Outstanding academic achievement (3.5+ GPA)
• MBA from a top tier program
• Highly analytical and numerate
• Initiative and commitment
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated teamwork & leadership
• High proficiency in financial spreadsheets, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
• Must have strong quantitative analytical skills and be able to think strategically and display commercial acumen
• Prior experience in a leading investment bank, management consulting firm, or strategic role within a media/entertainment company preferred (5+ years)
• Must have experience building financial models and market sizing models
• Must be knowledgeable on current trends within the media industry
• Must have strong communication & interpersonal skills
