SUMMARY
The Sales Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and directing the sales activities of the company to achieve sales goals and targets through a team of sales coordinators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Recruit sales and customer service coordinators; implement sales orientation and training programs.
  • Manage assigned sales staff and assist with skills development, account strategies, territory planning and administrative responsibilities to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Develop and increase sales revenue to meet assigned targets.
  • Act as a resource to sales staff in contract opportunities and proposals.
  • Assist sales staff with pricing, closing the sales and developing sales plans for accounts.
  • Attend trade shows.
  • Coordinate and assist in leading sales meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of products.
  • Monitor competitive activity and develop new methods to capture and retain customers.
  • Answer questions from customers and resolves complaints.
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships.
  • Perform other job-related duties as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises and coaches sales staff.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or related field and five (5) years of sales management experience in the building materials industry, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Internet / Intranet experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Good problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to use broad judgment in the day to day supervision of sales staff.
