Joining Microsoft on the US Commercial Industries (USCI) Division team as a Sales Excellence Manager, you will be providing key insights and coaching opportunities that will be delivered to field leaders and sales managers to fuel digital transformation for our customers and partners as well as the company itself. 

The Sales Excellence Manager (IC) is an analytical thought leader with exceptional relationship building, communication, organization, and coaching skills who has a proven track record of creating insight and action through analysis in complex and ever-changing business environments and large matrixed organizations. This is a critical business role that looks left-right across the US Commercial Industries business, identifying areas of opportunity and ensuring our leaders are armed with the most relevant insights to accelerate business outcomes and customer/partner/seller satisfaction. 

As a Sales Excellence Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enabling operational excellence across USCI. You’ll support business execution through data-driven insights, partner collaboration, and streamlined reporting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of analytics, collaboration, and execution—and who is passionate about supporting industry driven outcomes. 

This role can be based in any major U.S. city and offers flexible work arrangements, including up to 100% remote work. This role requires working West Coast hours. 


Responsibilities
  • Establish and drive a well-defined, predictable rhythm of the business (RoB), that enforces great discipline in sales and consumption processes and assists in delivering over-achievement of business results. ​ 

  • Coach pipeline discipline leading to healthy coverage and infuse the proper forecast rigor, accuracy and accountability​. 

  • Instilling sales process discipline, adherence to standards and excellence in execution while holding sales teams accountable to quality and accuracy​. 

  • Coach and support various stakeholders on executing our key priorities​ across all priority workloads. 

  • Increase the ease of doing business for our sellers by escalating and solving for operational inefficiencies. 

  • Leverage business insights and transformational leading indicators (TLIs) to benchmark performance and define current and future actions needed to grow the business faster than the overall market​. 

  • Partner with extended team (Field Sales teams, Business & Sales Operations, Go-to-Market teams, Finance etc.) to remove selling time roadblocks and increase seller capability and effectiveness​. 

  • Role model the internal transformation from an inspection to coaching culture.  Leading sales managers to become more effective coaches to their sellers resulting in increased individual and team capability, employee satisfaction and collaborative selling efforts​. 

  • Segment point of contact for fiscal year preparation & growth initiatives representing needs and influencing final decision making​. 


Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Finance, or related field AND 5+ years experience in sales, sales operations/management, account management, program management, business development, marketing, consulting, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience using data to drive business outcomes or inform business decisions.
  • 3+ years experience managing relationships with stakeholders, clients, and/or customers.
 
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of related experience in one or more of the following: Sales, Finance, Operations, Business Transformation or Strategy, Sales Planning,  

  • Business Analysis & Performance Insight – Understands financials, sales processes, scorecards, and key performance indicators to drive informed decision-making. 

  • Tool Proficiency & Productivity – fluent in Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.  

  • Customer Focus & Outcome Selling – Prioritizes customer needs and drives value through solution-oriented selling. 

  • Results Orientation – Demonstrates a drive for achieving impactful outcomes. 

  • Influence & Executive Presence – Communicates with clarity and confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Judgment & Problem Solving – Applies analytical thinking and sound judgment to solve complex challenges. 

  • Adaptability & Change Leadership – Embraces change and thrives in dynamic environments. 

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Builds partnerships and works effectively across teams. 

  • Organizational Discipline – Maintains structure, prioritization, and follow-through in execution. 


Sales Excellence IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
