PlainID is the market-leading authorization platform, solving the complex access challenges of the modern, AI-driven enterprise is looking for a high-octane Player-Coach leader (manager) to serve as the technical heartbeat of our Americas sales organization. This isn't a "behind-the-desk" management role. We are looking for a Technical Captain who lives by the philosophy of leading by example. You will be in the trenches, showing your team how to dismantle technical barriers and win marquee accounts. You will get your team up to speed by doing—running the high-stakes demos and architecting the complex POVs—and then transition into a supportive mentor/manager who ensures every SE in the Americas has the tools and the confidence to replicate that success.

Why PlainID?

We don’t just build software; we empower people. We offer a culture rooted in trust, teamwork, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Here, you don't just fill a seat—you fuel our growth.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Command the Room: Lead high-level technical discussions with C-suite executives and key stakeholders at Fortune 500 prospects.
  • Architect Solutions: Partner with Regional Sales Managers to translate complex business needs into elegant technical architectures.
  • Win the POV: Own the technical lifecycle, from initial discovery and custom demos to the final, successful execution of Proof of Concept (POC) engagements.
  • Define the Standard: Act as the subject matter expert on Authorization and Identity, responding to RFx with precision and authority.
  • Strong Player/Coach capabilities: Have the associated aptitude and attitude to drive corporate growth and positive change. Lead a small team of SE’s (<5) “from the front” in the field.
  • The IAM Edge: 5+ years of battle-tested experience in Identity and Access Management as a Sales Engineer or Solution Architect.
  • Technical Mastery: Hands-on proficiency in Linux and Windows environments, complemented by a deep understanding of IT architecture.
  • Developer DNA: Practical experience with RESTful APIs, LDAP Directories, and RDBMS. You can speak "developer" and "executive" fluently.
  • Strategic Communication: The ability to move beyond features to deliver true business value through storytelling and custom demonstrations.
  • Road Warrior Mentality: A willingness to travel up to 50% within your region to close deals and build face-to-face relationships.

Bonus Points:

  • Security certifications that prove your expertise (CISSP, CISA, etc.).
  • Deep-dive knowledge of Identity Federation technologies.

Are you ready to lead the next generation of Authorization for the Agentic Era?

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
