At Zello, our company values are at the heart of what we do everyday. We’re proud to serve the frontline, we’re privileged to connect people in times of crisis across the globe, and we’re honored to support first responders.

And this is where you come in.

As a Solutions Engineer at Zello, you will be expected to utilize your extensive functional and technical knowledge to work closely with our sales team and ensure productive customer interactions and ultimately sales. By doing so, you will help Zello convert prospects into customers. You'll engage directly with top leaders in enterprise companies, presenting and demonstrating Zello’s capabilities. Zello offers a hybrid work schedule, will require travel, and the chance to contribute to a well-established Series A company with a highly collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Pre-Sales Support
  • The SE partners closely with Account Executives (AEs) to win new business by:

    • Running discovery sessions to uncover customer pain points and technical requirements.

    • Delivering tailored demos, proofs of concept (POCs), and solution architectures.

    • Acting as the product expert who can map features to customer needs..

2. Solution Design & Value Translation
  • Beyond showing "what the product does," SEs translate capabilities into business value:

    • Designing integrations, workflows, and configurations that align with customer systems.

    • Articulating ROI, security compliance, and scalability benefits in technical terms that resonate with IT stakeholders.

    • Collaborating with product/engineering when customization or roadmap discussions are required.

3. Cross-Functional Bridge Between Field and Product
  • The feedback loop from sales to product is critical and the SE will be responsible for:

    • Collecting and prioritizing customer feedback to inform the product roadmap.

    • Advising marketing on competitive positioning and messaging based on field learnings.

    • Training new sales hires and sometimes enabling channel/partner sales teams.

Requirements and Skills
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a background in sales and technology who thrives in customer-facing roles and provides effective presentations and solutions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to design, build, and deliver engaging presentations that convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with pre-sales technical troubleshooting with technologies such as SSO, APIs, SDKs, user provisioning, MDMs, and radio gateways, as well as experience with hardware.

  • Ability to travel as sales opportunities require it. Could be up to 50%. Sometimes more, and sometimes less.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise-level software solutions.

  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.

We hire for potential, passion for our mission, and a knack for solving difficult problems over checking every qualification box. We have competitive pay, equity with significant upside, and intentionally design our benefits to encourage healthy and well-balanced employees, flexible schedules and time off. We even offer a sabbatical after every five years of service so you’re able to pursue and enjoy what matters most to you. And of course, we wouldn’t be a technology company without a ping-pong table and free snacks in our break room. Join us!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
