Join Wordly's fast-growing global team!

Wordly’s Public Sector team sells AI-powered live interpretation and translation to local governments, courts, state & federal agencies across the United States. As a Sales Account Executive on this team, you will work closely with our executive team, your SLED teammates, and leaders in our sales and marketing organization. You will sell Wordly AI software through web meetings, in-person meetings, and email, running a signal-driven outbound motion alongside high-volume inbound follow-up. You will prospect, qualify new business opportunities, navigate public-sector procurement, close sales, and work with marketing to improve our sales process and our ability to attain quota. Our work environment is independent, encourages creativity, and is a place where you can make a difference.

We are seeking a coachable, career-minded, and high-energy sales professional to help Wordly grow in the public sector.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run a signal-based outbound prospecting program using AI prospecting tools to surface buying signals.

  • Build enriched, prioritized account and contact lists, and design multi-touch outreach sequences (email, phone, LinkedIn) triggered by those signals

  • Follow up on inbound leads from marketing programs and public-sector trade shows and conferences

  • Identify target agencies, courts, and departments and set account strategies, including multi-stakeholder buying groups (IT, language access, accessibility, communications, clerks, court administration, and procurement)

  • Respond to RFPs, RFQs, and bid solicitations.

  • Navigate public-sector procurement, including cooperative purchasing contracts, state and federal contract vehicles, and budget and fiscal-year cycles

  • Position Wordly against language access, accessibility, and compliance needs such as ADA, Title VI, and court and agency requirements for serving limited-English-proficient communities

  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with public-sector clients and champions

  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements, including working with agency legal, security, and purchasing teams on terms, security reviews, and vendor registration

  • Work with SLED teammates to share account intelligence, coordinate across overlapping jurisdictions, and avoid channel conflict

  • Gather customer feedback and recommend ways to increase adoption and engagement across departments and locations

  • Travel as needed to marketing events, conferences, and customer sites, and assist with trade show booth activities

  • Resolve issues and handle complaints quickly and effectively

  • Demonstrate and communicate the Wordly value proposition to both technical and non-technical public-sector audiences

  • Work with Wordly leadership and marketing to identify marketing-assisted sales campaigns for defined verticals and feed what you learn from outbound back into campaigns and messaging

  • Track outbound activity and results (signals actioned, response rates, meetings booked, pipeline created) and refine targeting and messaging based on what converts

  • Use sales tools like HubSpot to maintain a current and accurate pipeline of deals

Qualifications Required:

  • At least 2-3 years of proven experience qualifying and closing deals, including self-sourced pipeline through outbound prospecting, preferably in the public sector

  • Experience selling technology solutions to state, local, or federal government customers

  • Familiarity with public-sector buying processes, including RFPs, cooperative contracts, and budget cycles

  • Comfort with a modern outbound stack and a willingness to learn new signal and enrichment tools quickly

  • Experience with CRM software and MS Office or GSuite (particularly Excel or Google Sheets)

  • Ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics

  • Excellent communication and time management skills

  • Coachable with strong analytical and negotiation skills

  • Business acumen with a problem-solving attitude

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Excellent collaborator able to engage across multiple teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing, etc.) and geographies to drive successful outcomes

  • Professional, executive presence internally and externally

  • Experience working with complex technologies

Desirable Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficient with reading and speaking another language in addition to English

  • Experience selling AV Equipment/Services or Language Services

  • Experience selling B2B SaaS tech products

This is a full time position.

  • Compensation Base Salary + Commission: Competitive

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
