Summary/Objective:
The ideal candidate has experience managing daily safety functions to ensure compliance with DOT, federal, state, and local regulations and Company policies and procedures are enforced.
Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, refresher training, and specialized safety courses.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, transportation, and operations teams to integrate safety practices into daily workflows.
  • Serve as the primary contact for safety-related issues, including regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and coordinate with HR on employee safety concerns.
  • Analyze safety data and trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning and drills.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of food processing areas, storage rooms, and any areas where food is handled, ensuring they comply with food safety standards
  • Ability to clearly communicate food safety procedures, regulations, and corrective actions to employees and management.
  • The ability to identify and mitigate food safety issues before they become larger problems.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety activities, incidents, and compliance reports.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably within a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety training and developing training materials.
  • Ability to analyze safety data and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30/500, CSP, CHST) are a plus.
