Provide AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor and re-certification classes for staff and community. Plan, organize, and evaluate participant learning; maintain training equipment per AHA standards; collaborate with clinical staff and Director of Training & Development; participate in community health events; serve as an AHA resource.
Position Summary:
Responsible for providing Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification and re-certification classes and other courses to meet needs of nursing and support staff at PMHD and the community. Collaborates with Departmental Nurse Educators, Nursing Directors and Director of Training & Development to assist with educational opportunities for District staff.
Essential Functions:
- Provides informative classes that promote a positive learning experience.
- Plans, organizes, and evaluates learning of participants.
- Participates in community events and/or classes promoting health.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers as needed
- Acts as a resource to the Director of Training & Development, staff, and community participants for AHA matters.
- Provides courses to the District staff as needed and authorized by the Director of Training and Development.
- Maintains District’s equipment used for training in accordance with AHA standards and local maintenance procedures.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Current license as Registered Nurse in the State of California required.
- Current certification as an Instructor the AHA courses: BLS, ACLS & PALS
- Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge in word processing, presentations and electronic media.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual and hearing acuity pertinent to conducting teaching sessions, providing hands-on experiences and demonstrating equipment.
Scheduling and availability:
- This position requires flexible hours according to educational offerings available and other department activities.
