Job Overview 

The Research Manager for Tracking plays a pivotal role in executing, managing and delivering high-quality custom tracking projects. The Research Manager will lead day-to-day project operations, serve as the primary client contact, and help develop the skills of junior team members. They should be detail-oriented, analytically-minded, and passionate about delivering insights that drive strategic decisions. Additionally, they should enjoy long-term engagements that have additional operational requirements needed to ensure success. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Understanding of all phases of project processes and how they impact one another. 

  • Ensuring maintenance of clear and detailed documentation for consistency wave over wave. 

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, trusted relationships. 

  • Mentoring junior researchers, providing guidance on project execution and professional development. 

  • Leading questionnaire development and/or revisions, ensuring clarity, logic, and alignment with project objectives. 

  • Overseeing all phases of data collection, including vendor management, programming checks, field monitoring, and troubleshooting. 

  • Developing data tabulation plans and frameworks to guide data processing and ensure alignment with research objectives. 

  • Reviewing and validating survey programming, data tabulations, and visualized reports for accuracy. 

  • Collaborating with external partners and vendors to ensure high-quality and on-time deliverables. 

  • Acting as a liaison between the research team and the internal leads of other departments (ex. programming, data processing, design & visualization). Monitor project costs and manage timelines, flagging risks and managing expectations proactively. 

  • Collaborating with team members to translate data into actionable insights, well-written reports, and visually compelling presentations. 

  • Keeping deliverables fresh and adding value (e.g., looking at data in new ways, creatively summarizing a lot of data in visual and compelling ways). 

  • Assessing a lot of data and being able to determine what is important to tell an action-oriented story.  

  • Partnering with senior leadership to continuously improve research processes and client service delivery. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Business, Social Sciences or related field preferred  

  • 4–6 years of experience in custom market research (quantitative, ideally with experience in tracking and multi-category/multi-market research) 

  • 2+ years of experience being the lead contact for client stakeholders  

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously 

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data to find meaning and insight 

  • Experience with research tools and platforms a plus, including dashboarding platforms (e.g., SPSS, Qualtrics, Decipher, DisplayR, Power BI, Tableau Recollective, E-Tabs ) 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, growing environment 

  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets) 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
