What You Bring to SBHG (Qualifications)

Education & QMHP Status: Meets Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) criteria through one of the following combinations:

  • Associate’s degree (General Studies) + 6 years of direct mental health service experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Mental Health discipline) + 4 years of direct mental health service experience
  • Master’s Degree (Mental Health discipline) + 2 years of direct mental health service experience

Professional Experience:

  • 0–4 years of experience in a healthcare setting working with seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) children or adults (preferred).

How you will make a difference (job overview):

Rehabilitation Specialists provide direct and indirect services to adolescents under the supervision of the Director of Group Services, Coordinator or designee.  May provide directions to Rehab Aides.  Performs rehabilitation assessment of new residents utilizing verbal, written, auditory and visual communication.  Develops an individualized schedule for therapeutic groups with adolescents.    Leads or co-leads therapeutic groups.  Coordinates and monitors daily unit activity program, supervise adolescents on outings, prepare verbal reports regarding adolescent’s participation and progress in the activity program and written documentation of the same in the medical record system.  Participates in Treatment Team meetings and assist in the development of a written Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan.

  • Population Served: A comprehensive mental health in patient residential facility for adolescents; Statewide service for up to 60 adolescents (ages 12–17) experiencing severe mental health challenges.
  • Facility & Setting: 24/7 locked, highly secure inpatient residential campus operating with the highest standards of dignity and care since 1988.
  • Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF), Community Treatment Facility (CTF), and an on-site Non-Public High School (SBHS).
  • Clinical Services: Multidisciplinary mental health services, Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), and Intensive Day Treatment Program.
