Company Overview: Terray Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotechnology company where scientists and engineers build together to transform how small-molecule drugs are discovered and developed. By combining our nanotechnology, experimental science, machine learning, and automation, we leverage Terray’s ability to generate and learn from scale proprietary chemical data to discover novel medicines for patients in need.

At Terray, you will work alongside pioneers and experts in artificial intelligence, chemistry, drug discovery, automation, and nanotechnology in deeply interconnected workflows where computational and experimental teams continuously learn from one another. Our platform, EMMI (Experimentation Meets Machine Intelligence), powers iterative cycles of molecular design and wet-lab experimentation that rapidly improve our understanding of biochemical interactions and guide the next generation of discoveries.

Our teams support both an internal immunology pipeline and partnerships across a broad range of therapeutic areas. The work here is highly collaborative, fast-moving, and grounded in the belief that breakthroughs happen when strong science, thoughtful technology, and great people work closely together.

Position Summary: We’re looking for a Recruiting & Candidate Experience Manager to coordinate and guide candidates through a thoughtful, efficient hiring process across life sciences, computational science, and technology. This role is less about direct sourcing and recruiting and more about making sure the right candidates move through the process smoothly, hiring teams stay aligned, and every candidate has a great experience with Terray.

You’ll partner closely with hiring managers, who will remain actively involved in identifying and recruiting talent. You’ll make sure roles are posted in the right places, help determine when outside recruiting support makes sense, and manage third-party recruiting relationships to ensure they are effective and advantageous to Terray.

From there, you’ll keep the process moving: coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, gathering feedback, bringing hiring committees together, and making sure decisions and next steps happen quickly and thoughtfully.

You don’t need to be a scientist or engineer, but you should be genuinely curious about the work and willing to develop enough technical fluency to understand the roles we’re hiring for and communicate credibly with candidates and hiring teams.

The core responsibilities of this position are:

  • Coordinate hiring through onboarding. Guide candidates from application through their first weeks at Terray, keeping the experience organized, timely, and thoughtful.
  • Partner with hiring managers. Define candidate profiles, interview plans, recruiting strategies, and personalized onboarding plans.
  • Get our roles in front of the right people. Ensure jobs are posted and promoted through the most effective channels and talent communities.
  • Manage external recruiters. Determine when third-party support adds value and manage those relationships for quality, effectiveness, and cost.
  • Be the candidate’s point of contact. Build relationships with candidates and keep them informed and engaged throughout the process.
  • Own interview coordination. Manage scheduling, interviewer preparation, candidate communication, and interview logistics.
  • Keep hiring decisions moving. Gather feedback, coordinate hiring discussions, and ensure clear decisions and next steps.
  • Partner through offer and close. Coordinate with People Operations and hiring managers on offers, candidate questions, and closing.
  • Own the onboarding experience. With the hiring manager, tailor onboarding to each new hire’s experience and background so they have the context, connections, and resources to get up to speed quickly.
  • Use data to improve hiring and onboarding. Track effectiveness, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve the candidate and new-hire experience.
  • Understand our work and talent market. Build enough knowledge of Terray’s science, technology, and roles to be an effective partner.

Experience and Qualifications: Part of Terray's success is nurtured by a hands-on work environment where everyone is accountable, vested in a vision of excellence, and actively taking part in the success of the business. Terray supports a positive work environment where employees can feel engaged, recognized, and empowered to be creative.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating recruiting, talent acquisition, or a similar people-focused process in a fast-moving organization.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to keep multiple searches, candidates, and hiring teams moving at once.
  • Excellent candidate communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong judgment and ability to partner effectively with hiring managers and senior leaders.
  • Experience coordinating interviews, hiring decisions, offers, and onboarding.
  • Comfortable using recruiting data and systems to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and improve processes.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and attentive to details without losing sight of the overall candidate experience.
  • Curious and comfortable learning enough about highly technical roles to communicate effectively with candidates and hiring teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in biotech, life sciences, technology, or another specialized talent environment is helpful, but not required.

Compensation Details: $94,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience. Terray’s salary ranges are designed to be competitive and are benchmarked against market base salary plus bonus within our industry and market. We align pay to role scope, skill level, and impact.

We invest heavily in benefits because taking care of our people matters. Our programs are benchmarked at the top of the Southern California market and designed to provide meaningful support across every stage of life. Benefits include participation in the Company’s stock option plan, a 3% retirement safe harbor contribution, fully paid health, dental, vision insurance for our employees, spouse, partner and families as well as above-market life insurance, disability coverage, and much more to explore during the offer process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
